Is the architecture program at the U of MN - TC considered a good program, and well known? The U would be the most practical decision for me, and I'm looking for ANY opinions at all on their architecture program / school of design.

The U of M has a fairly good Architecture program. It is not as well known as North Dakota State University’s Architecture. If you know your set on going to into arch. then I would suggest checking out NDSU.

yes, I would have to agree. North Dakota is very boring. But there program is better known, and considered of highly compared to the U of M’s program. So I guess it would have to be a personal choice (I would suggest not going into architecture right now because there are hardly any job offers for arch. jobs… unless you plan on traveling overseas) The college of design at the U is also very difficult to get into. One of my friends has a 33 ACT 3.9UW GPA and was postponed… and still waiting on a decision.

I do know that NDSU has a pretty highly ranked program, but as jkaufman pointed out… It’s in ND. Not that that is necessairily a bad thing, but I’m more looking for a campus in or very close to a fun city [mpls/stp], which is why I recently ruled NDSU out. I did apply there, and got in, but that was just a back up.

MNboy - I was also postponed at the college of design, but just recently was admitted at the beginning of March. Also, I do know that the job prospects are pretty low, but I am definitely set on going into architecture.

– any other opinions on the program? anyone with some experience there? is it known/regarded AT ALL by firms/companies on the east coast (chicago, NY)??

When applying for schools, I didn’t exactly have the best stats (27ACT, 3.65UW GPA) so I didn’t really apply to the elite arch schools. I’m hoping that the U of M has at least a decent program and is well-regarded in at least some aspects.

Also, any opinions on the architecture program at UC-Boulder vs. U of MN??

Although my primary interest is in architecture, the concept of architectural engineering also intrigues me, so I am considering Boulder as well.
