Has anyone toured these two schools in one day? I know they’re not that far apart, but given that they’re both sizable schools, I wasn’t sure if the tours were too lengthy to make this doable. Thanks!
I have not done that. You can certainly visit both campuses in one day, but you’d have to shortchange the school’s formal agenda at one or the other to make it work. The tours that we went to at UR and CU went from morning in to early afternoon, and I’m not sure they offer as much in the afternoon.
We managed to do Cornell and Lafayette in the same day, but Lafayette was just a self-guided tour at the end of the day. We missed the last tour by about 15 minutes. Lafayette and Cornell are about an hour further apart than Rochester and Cornell.
Well when I visited I broke the visits up into two different days, mainly because it took me three hours to get to Rochester, so I could only make the early afternoon tour. The campuses are about 2 hours away from each other, and if possible I would recommend visiting on separate days. In addition to driving time, you’ll need time to park (which took a while at both places for us), the tours might run over in length, you’ll need to eat, etc. I personally also just like to linger on campuses to get more of a feel for what it is like (and if you are coming from far away and won’t be able to visit again, this is especially important). Also I’d highly recommend interviewing at Rochester, since they take demonstrated interest pretty seriously, and interviewing helps boost your chances for merit aid.
TL;DR You could do it if you book the earliest tour at one school and the latest tour at another, but you’ll get more out of your visits if you break them up
Have done it. it’s not bad
