U of SC Class of 2025 Admissions

D got another email from financial aid today. Would love to get a decision so that we know whether or not she’s in. I understand that the two offices work independently but couldn’t they coordinate the release of emails so that we don’t get our hopes up when we see an email from USC?

I got that financial aid email today too

were you able to log in to that self service portal? we also got that email but the login credentials for the admissions portal don’t work for the financial aid/self service portal, and all the directions on that page seemed to be for admitted students only

Hi there, my daughter was admitted but can’t log onto that self service portal.

Thanks! I’ll assume these emails were sent in error then.

Oh, and congratulations on your daughter’s admission!

Thank you! It’s one of her favorite schools! Upon looking closer the login is not what she would use for her portal, but rather a usc email address (she doesn’t have one). So I’m not really sure what that email is about. We submitted her FAFSA so I’m not sure what is missing and she isn’t eligible for aid. I don’t think I’d worry about the email?? Good luck and best wishes to your child too!

If you go to self serve Carolina you can use her VIP ID (found in admissions portal above intended major) and claim her account and email. The alert isn’t urgent. You have to approve a title IV notification.

thank you!!

Yes - unless they’ve officially enrolled, they can’t access the message (even after setting up their SC account). Glad to hear it’s not urgent.

We were able to set up her account (admitted, but has not accepted/enrolled) using the 8 digit VIP Code found in admission portal.

It’s a bit of a process (have to set up multi factor authentication). Once we went through all steps to get account set up, we’re able to login to the Self-service link and then follow steps in email to get to the correct screen to click the necessary box to clear the open item. IIRC from older D, it takes a few days for the system to update and show the item has been completed.

I am so confused on this SSC. This is the message mine gets after she creates her account and tries to log on:
“We’re sorry, access is not allowed because you are not enrolled. Please contact your organization’s IT help desk for assistance.”

ok so you have to set up that multifactor authentication to access everything, including email. Every time she went to a new screen she had to verify by getting a text. Hope its easier in the future as it was quite cumbersome of a process. When she logged in to her SC email she had two emails from financial aid. She would have never saw them if she didn’t create this set up which is crazy as it should go to her email she used to apply since she hasn’t enrolled yet.

I have a current student as well. You do use the multi factor to log in but it is just once and you can set it so you do it once a week (I can just push a request to my phone once).

Thanks for the pointers here. We never would’ve figured out what to do with the aid email without them,

On the UofSC Instagram post today they are talking about a Facebook Live event for Fall 2021 housing. Someone asked in the comments if acceptances have even come out yet (lots of us were deferred in the EA round). The response was that there will be a round of regular decisions going out this month and then another mid-March. Anyone know if this worked the same way last year? If they did have a round in February, was it mid-Feb or late Feb?

My daughters weighted GPA went from a 4.67 to a 4.72. She was already accepted. Would you send in the updated GPA? Yes we are hoping for more merit.

I would. I asked my daughter to reach out to her rep and and ask that question, but I don’t believe she’s done it yet😂. Her school did send mid year transcripts last week, so hopefully they’ll take a look at it.

I’m laughing at how many schools are daughters both applied to that are the same!!

But yea I would tell mine too and then she would say “Ok” and then not do it right away. Hate to be that person but every little bit of money helps at this point and if it goes by weighted GPA then the higher should help but again…no idea how its based. Their website isn’t totally clear with it being test optional.

I know…it’s too funny, right? Which is your D’s top pick?
