U of SC Class of 2025 Admissions

As of right now South Carolina and then UDel. She’s waiting on merit notification on Alabama and UCF, waiting on Admission notification from Clemson and FSU. How about yours?

Her heart is set on Clemson even though it won’t be within our budget even if she is admitted. Next is Penn State with U of SC and Pitt tied for third.

Looks like they both have some excellent options. I personally cannot wait for her to make a decision and put this uncertainty behind us!

I hear ya! Just imagine the fun I am having with twin D21’s!

haha YUP I am so over it!! I am ready for mine to commit! She visited Clemson and UofSC and loved Clemson too! Its a beautiful school. It will ultimately come down to money for sure.

We visited Clemson and UofSC as well (with one of our twins) but for some reason, she wasn’t impressed with Clemson.

We have visits to both planned early next month, unless she gets the boot from Clemson, then we’ll spend a little more time at U of SC :joy:.

@TMDuo28 I cannot imagine doing this with twins. My head would explode.

Yeah, I’m close to my head exploding!!! For your visits, in case you haven’t heard, Clemson is much stricter about Covid, so you won’t be able to see much except the outside of buildings. Even the library requires students to sign up for time slots and has a security guard at the door! We actually had to leave campus because we couldn’t get into any buildings to use a restroom!

Mine toured both in November. She preferred UofSC and the “feel” of it. She also visited UCF and that was also beautiful. She definitely doesn’t want to stay in NJ thats for sure lol

I did read about that earlier in this or the Clemson thread. We’ll have to make do outside I guess. At some schools we visited, doors were open to buildings and we just moseyed on in. Guess they aren’t having that in Tigertown though😂.

I’d be interested to hear more about the “feel” if you wouldn’t mind sharing. My D loves the idea of being somewhere warm, and has visions of riding her bike from class to class on beautiful sunny days. The distance from home makes her a little uneasy though. She wants to blow this popsicle stand for sure, but in reality it might be too big a leap for her.

Definitely found that to be the case at Tennessee several weeks back. Went into the student union, the library, and another building and walked around/sat around with no one even looking at us funny. On the one hand, very open and welcoming to visitors, we thought. On the other, is this kind of a security and Covid issue? Lol we preferred assuming the former. In any case best of luck to you and your D21 with all of this stuff!

Definitely paying attention to if/when Clemson should open up for tours again. It’s one of two schools on my S21’s list of 7 applications that he hasn’t ever visited (Vanderbilt is the other). I like hearing your perspectives since you’re doing all of this x 2, maddening as it might be. We visited USC back in November and had a really great tour (and guide).

We recently visited Clemson and UTK, as well as UofSC. I just looked and UTK’s positivity rate was actually lower than Clemson so far this week.

She said it felt like a big campus with smaller campus feel. Like everything was in one area and not spread out. My husband described it as “quaint”. She felt Clemson while she loved the campus just felt smaller. Of course my husband loved the stadium lol

My D could end up liking SC campus better than Clemson’s. She’s starting to feel like she wants the city vibe.

Thanks for the info!

Our D21 twins applied to UofSC, Clemson, and Vanderbilt as well as a handful of other schools in STEM fields, at the top of their high school class. We visited Vanderbilt when they were sophomores and they loved it! For the past 15 months, when anyone asked, they said they were going to Vanderbilt and they would be Commodores!
But the late admission notification in late March/early April is definitely becoming an issue. I would LOVE to see one or both of them attend Vanderbilt!

Wishing you luck - I think my S21 realistically is down to USC, UTK, and UVA where he was just admitted early action (big relief). And we live in VA so UVA is a draw for obvious reasons. But USC and UTK both have great appeal and have made it attractive financially.

Can’t wait to hear your thoughts! I didn’t go, my husband took her. I plan on doing the admitted students day with her *if she ends up going there!

i live in TN - we don’t have COVID guidelines - it would be an infringement of your individual liberties. I say jokingly…but the state isn’t…embarrassing. That’s what TN is - backwards. Sorry to say.

Would it be improper to ask on this board if anyone is Jewish or has experience with being Jewish at U of SC. It’s hard to tell but it seems like less Jewish students than similar schools (UGA, UNC, FSU, Alabama). It’s my one concern for my daughter. We live in an area without Jewish life and she wants it in college. She loves C of C which has a strong presence. And she loves U of SC but I’m unsure. Apologies if this isn’t the right forum. I do know with a large out of state population there probably is some life - but the Hillel seems small (and yep, we’re going to call them).
