OK so it appears if you went test optional you were penalized from getting higher scholarships?? Or at least thats what it appears.

Got offered Capstone as well. ACT is 33, but only got the Distinction Award. Anyone done Capstone?

Son just received Excellence as well - in state tuition + 2K. OOS 35 ACT & I think 4.6-7ish on SC GPA scale. Tons of AP/dual credit, 3 varsity sports, and a huge emphasis on volunteering even started his own give-back business. A little surprised given his stats and what he has been offered at other schools that he did not get the Elite or Alumni, but I am sure the applicant pool was very competitive. Anyone know when we will hear about departmental or honors college scholarships? Would love to have all of the data before he has to make the final decision.

We got the at least $85K which was the Superlative Award - which is the out of state tuition + $500.

The OOS last year was a tad less than $85K but they give you the $500 a year.

The amount will change because they’ve yet to set 2021-22 tuition. So in theory if it goes up and the difference between in-state and out of state goes up, then the value goes up.

My daughter had a 4.5 and 32 ACT. To get the next level (another $1500 a year) would have required a 34 ACT. She actually had a 30 but 32 SS. This was the first year they superscored.

My twin daughters both got the Excellence Award which is $2,000 a year plus the reduction to in-state tuition (plus one of the twins also got a $3,000 a year departmental scholarship).

Did you hear about the departmental scholarship tonight along with the merit?

Same here. Waiting on merit amount from one more university, then it’s final decision time.

No that was back in January

Exactly the same here for S21 ($2K plus the reduction).

Awesome. My daughter applied undecided major wise. I guess that was a mistake (departmental scholarship wise)

Where did you find out about the departmental scholarship? Did that come via email or in her portal?

A separate email in January from the department itself.

My daughter got offered capstone scholars a d upgraded to the out of state distinction award $15k + 500. ACT30, 4.32 unweighted GPA. She also got the email notifying she had financial aid requirements which needed to be updated but has no way to log into the student self service. No point, she doesn’t qualify for aid (just loans) and the scholarship falls far short of what we are looking for. She has committed in state to The Ohio State University…

Well congratulations to her for making her choice! Relief I am sure!

The financial aid email is annoying. You have to sign in - but you cannot sign in until you enroll. Makes no sense. So you can’t see your FAFSA.

Congrats on THE Ohio State U. It’s a wonderful school - and since most on the CC base everything on ranking, then for most majors, you took the pedigree.

Our issue is my daughter really loves the C of C - but it’s double the cost. It’s the best fit. What to do?? She’ in Honors at both.
