U of SC Class of 2025 Admissions

By the number of likes you’re getting, I think many of us are in the same boat! I have twins who were both accepted into Honors, but one is much more interested than the other in UofSC. But unfortunately right now, the one who’s not interested in UofSC got more merit through a departmental scholarship. Go figure!

YUP thats always the way! Mine got so much money from WVU but UofSC is her first choice.

Mine got hers…she only got $500 more then the original

S21 received updated merit letter just now and, to be honest, it’s disappointing. This year’s admissions process has been so hard to read. We expected, given the average SAT and GPA parameters on the UofSC website, that he would be offered more. This makes his decision more complicated.

I just got my merit!

Anyone hear anything about the rest of the decisions? Maybe the merit coming out is a good sign for the people still waiting!

I am so confused. Her original letter said she would get at least 10k a year and this new letter says this:

" this award qualifies you for a substantial reduction in your tuition rate. The Merit Award tuition rate is $9,696 less per year than the nonresident rate."

Maybe it takes 5 years to graduate

Kidding - I told my daughter to look - but maybe there’s two parts - a tuition discount and a merit scholarship. I’m sure it will have to equal $10K.

I’m seeing on FB that many are now getting their acceptances to Capstone

If she got the “Merit Award”, it says this on their website:
Academic Scholar - Merit Award*

Annual value: $500 + tuition reduction
Four-year value with tuition reduction: $40,784

In 2020, recipients of the Academic Scholar - Merit Award had an average SAT score of 1325 (ACT score of 29) and an average weighted high school GPA of 4.11. Recipients of this award also receive a significant tuition reduction.

Are you instate or OOS? Mind my asking what you recd?

Yup thats what she got…sigh She has a 4.72 but went in test optional so I knew it wouldn’t be based on that.

Weighted or unweighted? Do they look at both?

We are OOS. My daughter received $500 plus the $86,000 which makes it the same as in-state tuition. And was just told she was Capstone Scholar.
