U of south carolina chances of getting a scholarship

Hey guys! I have a 1250 SAT / 3.7 gpa. I know my test scores are kind of low, but I am an OOS and really want to go to Carolina. I heard they give out a lot of money to OOS. Do I have any chance of receiving a Scholarship?

They give out a lot of money to high-achieving OOS students. If you’re in the Honors College or Capstone, there is an extremely good chance that you will receive merit aid in one form or another. If not, hope that need-based aid comes through!

@julezz There are two types of aid. Merit and need based. The only need based aid for OOS students at USC is the federal loan and grant programs, and federal work study. Eligibility will be based using the EFC from the FASFA. This means that for OOS students there are no university grants or even loans available. Merit aid will be based solely on numbers–gpa and test scores at the time of application. Take a look at the link that shortnuke provided, and you will see you are likely in Woodrow or next one below category. For the last several years, merit aid is becoming increasingly competitive. So, work on getting your SAT score up, and consider sitting for the ACT. a 100 point bump score on the SAT could really make the difference for financial aid. Good luck!
