Theres literally not a single thread on the U of Utah(or a single person interested in the school). I am just concerned about my chances of getting in as a CIVIL engineer major with a
SAT math 650
SAT read 490
SAT write 540
HS GPA UW 3.6 or 3.8
HS Weighted GPA 4.2
Cali resident(yes I know its way more expensive)
U of U acceptance rate is pretty high but Im just concerned about getting in as an engineering major.
Your gpa is pretty high but you have a median sat score based on combined critical reading and math(1140). You’re basically in major is irrelevant here. You wonder why nobody bothers chancing for a school with a +80% admit rate :-j Have you taken any APs or other advanced courses with decent scores? If you do then feel free to give yourself a 100% admit rate.
Just curious, why not apply to some of the lower UCs?
UC’s are some of the best bargains in education for in-state students, half that of Utah’s. Your UC GPA also might be quite competitive if you took a lot of AP and/or honors classes in 10th and 11th grades.
Cali students are WUE for U of U,

so is 150% of the U’s instate rate is cheaper than a UC? Or is it the less selective nature of engineering at the U of U? Have you check out the CDS? I think your test scores are probably in the range. If you can’t access a UC for engineering maybe you would consider cali CC and then a transfer?
