U of Utah vs UT Dallas for Biomedical Engineering

Hi, I am a senior and I am having a hard time deciding which college to go to for biomedical engineering. I have been accepted to both, and received great scholarships as well. I know that biomedical engineering basically requires a graduate degree, but I was wondering if anyone could give information as to which I should go to and why. My biggest problem is that the biomedical program at UT Dallas is more restricted, but I don’t know if that is necessarily important if I plan on going to a graduate school anyways.

UT Dallas:
Pros
-Tons of internship and research opportunities
-Cheaper (roughly half the cost)
-Next to a much bigger city
-More job opportunities after college
-I know many people who are attending

Cons
-Restrictive biomedical program
-Relatively new program with decent professors
-Lower ranked engineering department

U of Utah
Pros
-Closer to home
-Older program with better professors
-More opportunities available on Campus
-Accepted to the Honors College
-On campus hospital
-Better housing situation

Cons
-More expensive
-Less internship oportunities

These are just the main points. If you have any other questions or need clarification, please don’t hesitate to ask.

When you say that Utah is more expensive, are you taking into account that you could qualify for residency and in-state tuition after the first year? Utah is unusual in offering a path to residency for OOS students.

The problem is that the scholarships would not carry over, so the cost would go up if I earned in state tuition. But even if I got in state tuition and the in state scholarship equivalent it would still be at least a few thousand more than UT Dallas
