U Penn and Penn state U

<p>So, I told my teacher that I got accepted to Penn state and other universities.
The teacher was soooo happy to hear that I got admitted to PENN STATE.
Is there a possibility that she misunderstood?
I mean, is she thinking about U penn??
Is getting into Penn state so amazing?
I'm not against Penn state actually I'm so happy.
But I'm so confused!!!
The point is.. do some people get confused with U penn and Penn state?</p>

<p>Admission to Penn State main campus as a freshman is a major achievement. Most applicants have to go to a branch for a year or two.</p>

<p>Yes, people from other states get confused all of the time. That is because U. Penn is the only private college that uses the name “University of a state name.”</p>

<p>People do often get confused. I told my parents that I was leaving to go to a UPenn interview and later asked mr questions about which campus I wanted to go to, thinking it was Penn state haha</p>

<p>People get confused a lot, but it’s still an achievement and she might have been happy for you getting into Penn State.</p>

<p>I know lots of people who have had people think they got into UPenn when it was really Penn State, though.</p>

<p>This might just be me, but I think the confusion only goes one way. I have never seen anyone confuse Penn State for Penn, but do feel like people mistake Penn for Penn State a lot. Penn State has a bigger cultural impact due to its athletic programs (my opinion). They are both good schools, but in any case, what your guidance counselor thinks doesn’t matter at the end of the day, only what you think.</p>

<p>Haha, I know people get them confused a lot.
Got my PSAT score. there are notices in my school about popular schools and their average SAT and GPA. So I look at this chart and say to my friend, “hey, I match the exact average SAT score for UPenn.”
Math teacher comes up and goes, “You mean Penn State?”
“… no.”
“… oh.”
…* Awkward silence*</p>
