Choosing between U. Rochester and U Maryland Univ. Honors program. Also interested in U Conn (not honors) and U Delaware (Honors) I can't seem to find much first hand info about the honors programs at U Maryland or Delaware, but the cost difference is substantial.
Major is undecided (perhaps linguistics, biochemistry or chemistry)
Thank you.

Are you from Maryland or Delaware or...?

None of the above. We are from New Jersey.

Why not Rutgers Honors College?

Anyway, I would attend U of R if you are accepted because of selectivity/academic quality and strength in the majors you are considering. U Maryland has a very nice campus though and is a great school but not as selective as U Rochester. Don't know much about U Deleware except that it has a top chem eng program. Delaware is probably very strong in anything chemical.

Rochester is private but they give grant money and other forms of financial aid.

Maryland or Delaware would be your best values, but Rochester is the best for what you're looking for.

Thanks, Heavenwood and CollegeHelp.
I appreciate your thoughts.
Daughter did not apply to Rutgers for many reasons, but if Rochester can work out financially, I am sure that will be the choice.

She has three good choices. Maryland has proximity to Washington DC. Maryland has a number of honors programs, but I believe that University Honors is ranked above most of them (above the cluster of College Park Scholar programs). It wasn't clear from your post whether Maryland or Delaware was the cheaper school. Rochester is highly ranked, and will probably offer smaller class sizes and more individual attention, so if it is affordable, it might be the best option.
