Alright guys, I have a 3.45 accumulative GPA going into my Junior year in high school. What colleges should I be looking at to be a U.S History/ Social Studies Secondary teacher. Keep in mind I live in Ohio, some schools I have been looking at are
Miami (OH)
Villanova
Pittsburgh
Louisville
Michigan State
Do you guys think those schools have decent programs for my field or do you guys have some schools that I could possibly get into that better suit my field.
Feed back is much appreciated!

Make sure that the school you choose has an NCATE certified education program. NCATE is the accreditation body for college education programs. A lot of good schools have education programs which lack accreditation, and you might as well do your research if you’re going to fork over money for an education degree.

Also, keep in mind, social studies is a very saturated field. Your average SS opening at a high school might attract 500 applicants. A good way to get a leg up is to get certified in another field as well (math, science, sped…etc.)

Either way, good luck!
