I know the results are out - but where do you find a copy of the magazine. I have been to 2 bookstores and 3 CVS type stores. I see Best Graduate Schools and Best Hospitals - but no Best Colleges - can anyone tell me?

Thanks,

According to amazon, the hard copy is not out yet? Weird

It’s online.
Paper version? I don’t know.

It is on amazon. I just looked it up and ordered it.

I thought they discontinued publishing paper editions of their magazine and are now on-line only:

The magazine quit its print edition months ago.

This was the link I found [Amazon.com: U.S. News Best Colleges 2012 (9781931469470): U.S. News & World Report: Books](http://www.amazon.com/U-S-News-Best-Colleges-2012/dp/B0058OTKPO?referer=http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3308638)

I just got back from grocery shopping and it was in the store (Southern California). The online version has extra stuff.

The mag is no longer hardcopy, but unless I was hallucinating it appears that thus far they haven’t abandoned the print version of the one thing that is probably keeping them afloat.

The weekly U.S. News & World Report is no longer published in print.

The paper version of the yearly USNWR America’s Best Colleges (which costs about $10 and is about the same size as Vanity Fair) is published mid-September every year. I saw one today in Costco but they didn’t have it out at Barnes & Noble yet.

They also publish a yearly book titled U.S. News Ultimate College Guide that costs around $29.99. The new one usually comes out on October 1st. This one has data on thousands of colleges.

It’s not high-tech (being on paper and all), but I just want to add that the magazine form was the first step for all three of my kids in the college search process. We’d buy one at at the beginning of sophomore year and leave it on the kitchen table or in the car. We didn’t have to bug the kid to look at it because it was early enough (in my family, anyway) that the idea of college was intriguing, not yet burdensome.

Since it’s organized by state, the kids would look only at the listings for states where they could see themselves going to school. We’d given them a figure we could afford each year, so they knew not to check off a school in excess of that number unless the school offered merit aid, which at the time was designated in each school’s entry (don’t know if that’s still true). So it was a nice, low-pressure way of getting the search going.

Just my long-winded way of saying that I’m glad they still put out the paper version.

How else could one know that their kid goes to a better college than their neighbors’?
