U.S./World History practice test dilemma

Okay guyz, here's my dilemma

I bought Real SAT II, Kaplan U.S. History and Kaplan World History books today. I took their practice tests.

With Collegeboard's Real SAT II I got 740 in U.S. History, and 650 in World History...they were both lower than what I expected/wanted

But when I took the Kaplan's tests I got 550 U.S. History and 530 in World History. I can't understand the huge discrepancy between the two tests. Which score is more reliable? Shouldn't the two be really similar?

Collegeboard is obviously the more reliable one, and I believe the other practice books make the tests harder

kaplan does not make the questions harder
their questions are dumb
note, that i got a 690 on a kaplan practice test and an 800 on the college board practice test
have yet to see what i will get tommorow
