What building is this? Urey Hall?

no … go consult the campus map first (seriously). it’s by the matthews apartments.

its like right by warren field i think

Its University Center 413. The name is very misleading because it is not in university center and it is not near the university center 400’s building. Its east of pepper canyon and across the little canyon; right across the street from the Matthews apartments. Its in the bungalows. Its a pain for anyone not living in sixth. I had a math discussion class there once. Its hard to find partly because it isn’t on some campus maps. This is the map I use, but it isn’t on there CampusMap . Use Matthew Apartment Building A instead since that is next to U413.

Awesome!!! Thanks!!!

@astrina: I tried searching it online, including the UCSD campus map, and I couldn’t find anything. Sorry for asking people who might actually know the answer…

Ah so thats what those portables are called…Ive always wondered…its even harder because this year they decided to demolish the parking lot that used to be in front of it…grr

hmm, i didn’t realize that going here ([UCSD Campus Map](University of California, San Diego | Campus Map)) and typing in “U 413” was really all that difficult.

I typed U413 1 and it didn’t return anything. So instead of spending a couple of minutes figuring out why that didn’t work, I came here and started this thread, since it takes less time (and apparently mathtastic nerd agrees that it’s a good question). I didn’t know that the U413 is the building name because the buildings I know about are all letters, so it would’ve taken a while for me to figure that out.

If my question is too stupid/obvious for you, then…well…too bad. The question’s asked. If you’re going to be condescending, I have to ask:

Why are you even on this forum? Do you want to promote it as a medium for asking questions, or do you want to keep people away from it? Because you seem to be trying to accomplish the latter.

People can be a bit rude on here. Don’t mind it. Adjust to it.

fair enough, i admit i’m being ruder than you’d expect for a simple question like that. but here’s a challenge: check this forum regularly for 15 months, see dozens of iterations on the same question, and maybe you’ll understand where i’m coming from.

i usually think long and hard before troubling other people with questions, and would expect that others do likewise as well. when i used to TA and got approached by students with questions about the material, my first response would be “did you try reading about it in the book?” and if the answer was no, i’d tell them to do that first.

there’s a difference between being helpful and spoon-feeding answers obtained through two clicks via google. i just don’t feel that forums like this should be used for the latter.

hmm, how were your ratings as a ta? I bet the students didn’t like that “did you try reading about it in the book?” very much no offense

and if you dont like it…just dont respond?? I mean, even finding maps of some rooms I still manage to not find them, or get lost searching…Who cares if he asks in a place thats meant for other students who might know the answer to help them out? Thats kinda the point. If every post annoys you so much, why dont you stop looking

good enough to win the TA award for my department … obviously, i did help out those who tried to help themselves first.

i don’t feel there’s anything wrong with telling people to explore their options and resources before running to a forum. sorry if you think differently. and i generally keep my mouth shut for things that annoy me (basically chancing and "bump"ed posts) but will still speak up when i feel like it. i’ve already been through a few flame wars on this forum, nothing new :)

Is this forum not an option or a resource?

She’s “el diablo.” Rawrfest. :]
