UA vs. Texas Tech

I love UA. So far it’s my first choice and I already sent in my application. My dad wants me to also look at Texas Tech. Have any of you visited Tech, and what do you think about it compared to UA? Thanks!

UofA is so much prettier and offers so much more in the way of off campus activities. Academically they should be similar but obviously depending on your major one may be a little better than the other.

If I had to choose between the two I would take UofA—and I grew up fairly close to Tech.

To thine own self be true: “I love UA.” And this from a dad who is a huge Tech booster due to my son graduating from and having a great experience at Tech. Regarding your dad, who “wants me to also look at Texas Tech.” If you are a Texas resident, is your dad looking at the $$ lower in college cost advantage between Tech and UA? If “yes”, then do some homework and compare the costs between UA and Tech. This may reduce or eliminate his concerns. If your dad is suggesting Tech as an alternative university to look at so you “don’t put all your eggs in one basket”, maybe on your own identify a Texas state university that you would consider such as Texas State University in San Marcos, UNT in Denton, UTD in Richardson, etc. Bottom line - find out the reasons why your dad recommends considering Tech and then address those concerns yourself. UA will likely still win your heart, but you can do a lot to bring your dad along to your point of view.
