UC Admission Essay Prompt 1????

Describe the world you come from — for example, your family, community or school — and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.

Is it okay if my essay does not address my intended major (Computer science)? I talked mostly about my relationship with my family members.

I'm apply to college of L&S btw.

Well, from what I was told, it is asking for who you are. It wants to know the influences in your life that made you the person you are and what you aspire. There’s no real problem if you don’t mention your major. I’m applying to UC as well and I’m trying to figure it out as well. You still have two months before it opens up for admissions.
I would say that although you don’t need to mention a major, it is asking what you aspire to do and be. That may not be a major for you, but definitely something you wish to do in the future
