When applying to UCs, do you just write one set of essays and put which ones you’re applying to? And how does the personal statement fit in, is it the same, just write one and send it to all of them? Not sure if this is the right forum…I apologize if it isn’t.

Yes. There are two questions for the UC app; you answer each of them and fill out the rest of the application. You can send this app to as many UCs as you want as long as you pay the app fee for each school.

In other words, it’s the exact same app for each UC; you have to pay more money for each one you apply to but you don’t have to do any additional work.

Okay, thanks quomodo, I was confused about that. So since I’m applying for Fall of 2011, I have to wait until October to look at the prompts?

Nope, I’m 99% sure the prompts are the same each year.
Here they are:
[University of California - Admissions](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/apply/how_apply/personal_statement.html)

The UCs are accepting online application only starting this year. You fill out one application, including one set of essays, and check off the campuses you want to apply and pay for them. In the essay, instead of saying the individual campus name, just use the generic reference “UC” or “University of California.”

The personal statement prompts are already confirmed this year. What you find on the website, referenced by quomodo, are the right prompts.
