i think i'm a lot like your son, im an average girl thats had her heart set on ucsb since i was 9 too. although it seems like your son has a good chance of getting in...thats where we differ =/

ok last question, at the end of my appeal letter, should i sign my name? and how should i do it? sincerely, my name???

Thank You,
(signature)
Your Name

just sign your name and type it too, just in case they can't read it. Send it return receipt, just in case.

I talked to UCSB today...they have already started to respond to the first appeals they received.

I don't think my son has more of a chance than you....I'm sure your stats were better than his!

mtlvrmom- how does UCSB respond to appeals applicants? Letter? e-mail?
We're in the same position as you-sent in the package almost 2 weeks ago.
Thanks.

thanks guys im sending it in tomorrow...

if they dont respond by may 1, and u have a backup college and u fill their SIR, and then some UC u appealed to accepts you, aren't you screwed?

hey sockherplayer ... what if they respond after may 1, and u have already filled out your SIR for some UC on (lets say, april 30) what are the things that i can do?

after u sign the SIR, can u revoke your admission to that university?; i doubt it cuz its a "formal" contract

From what I understand, they send out letters. They do not post it on their admissions website like UCLA, nor do they notify you when they receive it.

Just curious...what did your daughter base her appeal on? And how many recommendation letters did she send in? I've heard people sending more than 3 - my son just followed the instructions...they said no more than three.

Where will she go if she doesn't get in?

good question...I'd call the admissions office and see what they say.

thanks mtlvrmom

i have always wonder what happens if u submitted your SIR, and then after may 1 they notify u that they accepted u ....

the tricky part is the housing too...alot of schools are tight on housing and you won't have a place to live if you get in on appeal. UGH! This is all so confusing...

well housing is not the first problem ... most important is GETTING ACCEPTED

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

do u think the uc's will respond b4 may1?

Mtlvrmom- My D followed the instructions - transcripts and not more than 3 letters of recomendation. I too am curious about the SIR at more than one school. Please post any info you might find out.

If the appeal doesn't come thru then probably UCSC or Boulder

I don't know. What puzzles me is that first they have to find out how many spots they have open. And do they do this all at once? It seems impossible to do all this by May 1st.

Fortunately for my son he's already secured alternate housing, so he can be accepted up to the night before schools starts (well, almost!).

Santa Cruz is a beautiful school, congrats on getting in! My son did not - he was really disappointed. He really wanted UCSC...alot of kids from So. Calif. chose to go there.

Can you send out multiple appeals to multiple UCs?

i am going to send my SIR to SDSU and then if i get into UCSB on appeal ill just tell SDSU im not going there anymore. its not really a big deal. especially with a campus as impacted at sdsu. that sucks about the housing for sb if i get in on appeal. no housing!! yikes.

Based on last school year, you can turn in your SIR to another campus while waiting for your appeal decision. When you get admitted, you just have to call the campus you sent your SIR to and they'll be happy that you forfeit your deposit heheh
