for the UC appeal, it says to include the letter of appeal, high school transcript, and letters of rec…do i put all of those things in a big envelope and send it? or are the letters of rec sent separately by the teachers???

they should be in same envelope, but the letters of rec should be in their own sealed envelope with a seal where you close the envelop. the seal can be the teacher's signature, school stamp, etc.

thanks man

hey..i mailed my appeal in but my letters or rec were not sealed in an envelope..do you think it really matters? my teachers gave them to me with no envelope.

probably not. if your appeal is rejected it would have nothing to do with whether or not your letter of recommendation is offical or not, but since they prefer offical transcripts it would be logical that they would prefer offical letters of recommendation.

Hey bro! Put them all in on a medium size brown envelop. Your letter of appeal will definitely stand out.

Which UC school is this for?
I don't believe all of them require those transcripts.

are you kidding wellendowed or are you seroius? cuz i was going to put mine in that type of envelope and i dont know if your joking cuz it would look informal or whatnot. should i put all of my appeal stuff in one envelope?

looks like i'll be making a trip to the office tomorrow to get an official transcript.... sigh... how exactly do i get a office letter of rec? where do i find a seal handy? and since theres only like 4 days left, should I send it priority or overnight? or is it the same? I live in california. thanks

My son sent 3 letters of recommendations in sealed envelopes even though it didn't say you had to have them sealed. They said that transcripts are recommended, but not necessary. He wasn't basing his appeal on the grades anyway.
The bad part is if you mail them today, you won't hear back until after May 2nd, which is when you have to respond to other schools and you probably won't get housing at the school you are appealing to (assuming you get in).

What did you base your appeal on?

are you sure that they won't send back results until may 2nd? who told you this? if what you say is true..... I'm so screwed...

considering how hard it is to get an appeal accepted, you want to make your application stand out to the admission officers. if your appealing to a school, chances are your initial stats, ec's, volunteer hours are essentially equal to other appeals. you need to come out with something that will stand out compared to other applicants. everything else being equal, and the only difference between to applicants is an offical letter of recommendation and an unoffical letter of recommendation, guess who they would pick. i wouldn't take the chance of sending in anything that would cause them to think twice...

All the UC's said it takes approx. three weeks to respond..and they encourage people to make other arrangements.

My son sent his overnight with confirmation- and it arrived March 28th, so he should hear next week. But I heard they have received the largest amount of appeals, so he doesn't expect to hear by May 2nd.

I'm very serious!

Whoa! I sent a letter of appeal to UCLA and when i log onto their admissions decisions on their website it now says....

Dear DJdooey:

We have received your letter asking that we reconsider our admission decision for Fall Quarter 2005. We are in the process of reviewing your record again.

If your name and contact information listed above is incorrect, please notify us.

It seems like UCLA is on top of things. Plz accept me i love UCLA!!!!!

but if u wait until may 2

don't u have to sign the SIR on may 1?

From the UCLA website

"It is our usual practice to respond to appeals within three (3) weeks of the date we receive them. However, we cannot guarantee a response by May 1, the date by which many institutions require their applicants to make a commitment. We encourage applicants to consider all of their educational options."

for the uc appeals it says it should be "postmarked" no later than april 15th. that means i can send it in on like april 13th/14th right and still be good? i dont care if i dont here back until after may 1. that sucks about housing though. oh well i dont think ill get my decision reversed anyways, its kinda a long shot.

where r u guys appealing to? it seems pretty hard to get the decision reversed at any of the uc's...

my son is appealing UCSB...he included three recommendation letters from individuals - all very compelling and personal - one of them is from his Principal and she only chooses 3 people in the entire school to write appeals for. The other was from a UCSB alumni, however, he knows its still a long shot. He worked hard and put alot of thought in to his appeal letter - we're just hoping for the best.

He's wanted UCSB since he was 9 years old -he just isn't your 4.6, 1500 SAT type of kid, just your average kid with excellent e.c.'s.
