*****UC Berkeley 2021 Applicants Thread*****

@Mom22DDs they were probably a Regents candidate, not a Regents scholar.

@scarletwitchx - you are right. I checked with them and they said they are expecting the results on 30th like everyone else.

How much does UCB compare your application to that of other applicants from your school? I’m OOS and my school’s valedictorian applied to UCB as well, but she cheated all throughout high school and it would be really annoying if she got admitted and I didn’t, simply because UCB compared me to her/limits the number of students it admits from a school.

@charcoalatey2021 well let’s see if the ends justify the means.

@charcoalatey2021 Unfortunately, cheaters prosper (under this current “holistic” admissions), so I wouldn’t be surprised if she was admitted. But don’t worry about her, there’s nothing you can do about that.

UCB doesn’t necessarily compare you to other applicants as much as evaluate how you did under the constraints of your school, meaning what AP classes were available (did you challenge yourself), the resources available to you, how YOU changed/affected your community in a positive way. If you catch UCB’s eyes, there’s no reason you can’t also be admitted.

Wishing you the best of luck :).

@JuicyMango Ah okay. Fingers crossed :,) Thank you! You as well.

I’m a nervous wreck for berkeley decisions omg. After being waitlisted at UCLA I’m not sure if i have a chance

@astrophysicistx You have a great shot! UC Berkeley is completely different from UCLA. Also, the UC admissions process this year is making absolutely no sense, so you definitely still can get in. Plus, you were waitlisted at UCLA–I was full on rejected and I’m still hopeful about UCB. You have a better chance than I do lol

@charcoalatey2021 More curious about how this person is cheating and why you haven’t reported the same to your principal or GC? Very worrisome that what sounds like blatant cheating is being condoned? Your GC had to sign a recommendation on this person. Could put them in a bad spot in the future if no one reports it.

UCLA rejects & UCB hopefuls SQUAD!!

I already promised myself that if I got into Cal, I’d go buy tacos in celebration right away. If I didn’t, I’d go buy tacos to cure my depression right away :))

Hey guys, I know you all are anxious about UC Berkeley decisions, especially after getting rejections from other schools in the UC system. I’m anxious, too.

But don’t worry! Not getting into UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCI, or UC Whatever does not mean you’re doomed for UC Berkeley. Here’s a story from last year’s application cycle:

My friend got into UCSD, was rejected by UCLA, but later got into UC Berkeley for one of its most competitive majors. So don’t lose hope. Stay as calm as possible, and remember that a rejection means absolutely nothing about you as students or people. If you’ve been admitted to other schools, try to focus on researching about them. That way you can learn more about schools you might attend. I’m doing this, and I have to say it’s really helping me keep my mind off UC Berkeley, UMich, and Ivy Day.

@kibbles Several people at my school have reported her, and they even got a video of her blatantly cheating that they tried to show to admin, but the admin claimed they couldn’t look at the video because “she’s a minor” Since she’s in the IB program and my school values that over AP and all else, they didn’t want to knock her from her position as first in the class.

@charcoalatey2021 just surprising that a parent or student wouldn’t go to the school board. This will reflect poorly on the school itself. At our school system the IB program is treated as “lesser than” other programs. Weirdly.

Has anyone gotten likely letters from UCB?

@katz2410 they don’t send likely letters, but they admitted the top 2% of applicants in February

don’t know how it is for students who are still waiting on decisions, but as an accepted student, I can just see my SIR submit thing on CalCentral.

I got an error. @SFMom2021 Do you see something different?

I have an error too :frowning: @yuccatree does that mean I’m rejected? @SFMom2021
