I got the same emails as you from Berkeley. Never got any from UCLA and got rejected.
They come out on the hour so we will just have to keep checking every hour
Ivy day is terrible omg I’m hoping for a good finish with Berkeley…
Am I the only one who starts crying when imagining being regected/ accepted (tears of joy) in two hours…
Rejected at Yale, got into Dartmouth, Brown, Cornell. Screw you Berkeley I know I’m not getting EECS at you anyway
Back in early February someone posted a link to a very interesting video put out by Cal on the new LOR procedure. Basically, they have three categories (yes,no,maybe) and those in the “maybe” group were sent requests for LORs. It helped those who had good LORs and hurt those that had bad ones.
Super nervous right now…
May the luck be with all of us…
Lmao relatable. I like low-key freak out about getting in and practice my reactions.
I got rejection letters from harvard, princeton and columbia. Though I got accepted into UCLA, i am still waiting for Berkeley. By the way I am international applicant.
rejections/wait lists everywhere - no energy to take another rejection/wait list
Rejected from Penn so far today. Not that excited for my rejection from Berkeley. I didn’t get asked for a LOR, so i’m pretty sure im in the definite no pile
I got rejected from UPenn, Brown, Yale and Cornell. But got accepted to UCLA!! Cant understand Ivys acceptance processes. Hope I am accepted to UC Berkeley… The rejections made me really sad.
When does it come out?
Wait so if you didn’t get a LOR that basically means you’re rejected?
It’s 2AM here, but I am going to wait 2 more hours for Berkeley’s response
@JamesBOO7 Hang in! This is such a brutal process …
@astrophysicistx No! They’re for borderline applicants. Everyone on this thread keeps saying different things about that, but it’s a fact because the guy in the video said they were only sent to borderline applicants. Not getting one doesn’t mean we’re rejected.
@helloucla844 Applying ED improves odds of getting in Ivys SIGNIFICANTLY!!! It’s never easy, but A LOT tougher RD.
Not necessarily. It depends what side of the spectrum you are on in their reading scale. If you are a strong candidate it may not help you, if you are a weaker candidate and you receive strong letters, it may help you. Here is a very informative video someone else posted. Skip to about 24 mins in and it explains LOR’s in great detail. I was on the lower end of the spectrum because of my SAT’s and I did get a request. But it doesn’t really mean anything until we find out the results today. The wait is agonizing.
