UC Berkeley 2023 Applicants Thread

Still just two…ok ok it’s fine just gonna go cry Hahaha. :slight_smile:

instead of just having your permanent address and mailing address, there are 2 mailing and 2 permanent

@taloolab thank you, mine only has two…

It might literally mean nothing, I haven’t looked back at the 2022 thread, but I know it happened last year too

does it show as four addresses on both your phone and computer? or just computer?

both for me

it doesn’t mean anything. it happened last year and people with 4 addresses got in and people with 2 addresses got in. some people had it switch between 2 & 4 regularly. don’t read into it because it doesn’t mean anything.

Its all a matter of personal opinion, but I believe it really could mean something. Not quite sure what, but my sons changed to 4 and then back to 2 right before he got waitlisted. Then, a couple hours before he got off waitlist, he said it went back to 4 and then he was accepted. If I had to guess, kinda seems like it could be they are verifying addresses, or printing something out??? Always interesting to see who gets in after the address change…

@knowledgeispower18 and @01pabs do you mean under Verify Address? Mailing address and permanent address?

@momsparks yes

@momsparks yes…see post #441

Hi just a random Sophomore at Berkeley stopping by. This never happened to me and I still got in.
Just asked my freshman friend, he doesn’t know about it either.
So all I’m saying is there is nothing to worry about!!

What do you mean by four? As in your mailing and permanent address are doubled up??

Hi friends! Junior at Cal popping in- was accepted as a transfer last year and never had the four addresses thing. I was freaking out but it means nothing.

Had four addresses yesterday, changed back to two today. The addresses are slightly altered from what I inputted though (Court was changed to Dr)

I have 4 addresses, other people at my school that are better applicants have 2, people same tier or worse than me have 4. I think it means something.

It would be interesting when people find out when admitted if they had the change from 2 to 4 addresses this year. It seems it has to mean something or else everyone’s would be the same. It changed to 4 just hours before my son was accepted. @Gandalf1414 I really feel Cal does a great job looking at the applicant in a holistic way, so don’t discount yourself as an applicant! These days It seems it’s more about being that awesome unique missing piece in their puzzle than being “a top tier student”. Best of luck to you!

My kid last year had 2 and was waitlisted. My kid this year has 4 and is a much better candidate.

@knowledgeispower18 I disagree with the Cal’s holistic approach. They value it lesser than other top schools.

Ill tell you why. Being a public school with a million times more apps, they have to eval all of them fast, and cant do so properly screening thru all.

Hence the UC GPA comes in handy which is used to segregate and make most decisions, hence it gets more weightage over the other compo.

Even the R+C scholars are chosen with about an almost full weight to the UC GPA.
