@autumnspast: You are correct that based on these aspects on the application review, admissions can get an idea of an applicants true intent. To me, I prefer the direct admit into the major which still gives plenty of time to “weed out” the not so dedicated students.
So in my case for my ECs I conducted several free medical camps for the underspriveleged and interned at a couple hospitals over the few years. My PIQs focused on how i will cure cancer and how Biology interests me and what I will do once I come out of college. Would you consider those as “supporting” my major which is Integrative Biology?
just wondering what do u guys mean by the address changing to 4? how does it look like? I have like the mailing address and then the permanent address and that’s it
@nadagehad01 you are right, you have only 2 addresses while some students have 2 sets of mailing and permanent address making it 4. Hope you get it.
@nadagehad01 I kind of copy pasted for you what it looks like on my portal with the 4 address thing. (Obviously I changed my address lol) But this should give you an example of what it looks like with 4 addresses. It pretty much shows 2 Mailing Address and 2 Permanent Addresses.

What time are decisions coming out on Thursday?
@compSciLover I think it’s 3pm
6 pm Eastern / 3 pm Pacific
@garamxmasala I am really digging your username right now and the Indian in me is very happy lol.
For everyone worried about not having 4 addresses, I have always had 2 (and still do) and I was admitted in February, so I don’t think it 's an indication of acceptance/rejection. Good luck to everyone for 3/28!
Bro, the UCs be bamboolzing me. I got waitlisted from UCSD (32 ACT, 4.5 W, Hello???) and outright rejected from UCLA. This has added so much confusion for me regarding the college admissions process, but I’m hoping UCB shows me some mercy ┐(‘~`;)┌.
@collegebound2023 Bro I totally get you bro, if it helps, would you like to have my imessage? I got waitlisted at UCSD and rejected from UCLA, but accepted to UCD. It really stings, even given my extracurricular and first-gen. I’ll be up to share my pain with you too XD.
when i was browsing last year’s thread, it appears they had a method to know your decision early by visiting calcentral. Basically you just need to find out your calcentral ID by registering a Berkeley summer session, and when you log in, if it says pre SIR, that means you are in. Does anyone tried this year and have any luck seeing pre SIR?
@TheBeyonder I just messaged you on here. It honestly sucks being first-gen and I am too.I got zero help from my parents and I don’t even blame them cause they don’t know how to help me. All of this is so new to my family and I. ?
@TheBeyonder on the Davis board you wrote:
Which UC admissions department told you that they consider an ACT taken without writing?
ACT with writing definitely adds weightage in any sitch, requirement or not.
Idk its weightage in the UC GPA, but in the overall process, it definitely plays a good role.
Superscoring is a thing for UC’s at the least, and they anyways take the highest mark in each sec across seatings. SO in case of a 32 and a 30, safely assume a 32 that will be considered. Idk about the writing in this case, but i think they consider it.
@collegebound2023 Well, for 1stGens, the COllege boosts the app profile, giving them a higher admission rate anyways (statistically)
@lkg4answers I emailed the UC admission office, which means all of them. They said that they will see both scores with and without writing. I honestly don’t know what I did wrong, other than my essays not being anywhere as good as my ivy essays my national award I got after my UC apps Very confusing for me, and I offer advice! XD
I got 4 rejections these two days. As of right now I have 7 rejections and 1 waitlist, but I still have a little little little hope for getting into UCB. See how crazy I am…
@ProfessorPlum168 Hi! I’m a freshman applicant, would it be possible for you to chance me?
GPA: 4.1 (W)
SAT: 1340
Rank: Top 10% in graduating class
APs: 10 (total) + took a dual enrollment course at a CC
EC:
4 years of Water Polo & 3 years of Competitive Swimming
Volunteer at hospital
President of Physics Club + apart of 2 additional clubs
Applied to Cal as intending to major in Business Admin. in Haas
It would be great if you could chance me, thank you!
It depends on how many schools are left for you, and as a standard measure, where your ACT/SAT score lies in their normal distribution. If its at least on the lower quartile (25th percentile) it should be fine.
But the holistic process may come at your advantage? Thats for the AdCom to decide.
At this point, trust, believe, and say +ve. Thats all to be done.
