UC Berkeley AP Credits

So I am a bit confused on how the credit system at Berkeley works. I am an EECS major in the College of Engineering.

2 Reading/Comp + 4 other Humanities/Social Sciences: maximum 2 AP credits
–> does this include the English credit as well? That is, if I took AP English Lang, and satisfied one Reading/Comp credit, will I allowed to gain credit for 1 more H/SS or 2? (I have Euro, APUSH, and will be taking Gov, so I have extra, but just wondering how many will count.)

Economics: is this a required course? I heard that it was, but I can’t find it anywhere on the Berkeley CoE requirements list. If it is, are Macro and Micro separate courses, like AP Macro and Micro are, and is it included in the 6 H/SS requirements?

At most two of the six H/SS (2 R&C and 4 others) may be satisfied with AP credit. So if your AP credit counts for R&C A, and you have additional AP credit that can be used for H/SS, then you need R&C B and three more H/SS courses. The three more need to include two upper division courses, include an American Cultures course, and complete a series (two in the same department, at least one of which is upper division).

Here is the last of Berkeley engineering AP credit: http://engineering.berkeley.edu/academics/undergraduate-guide/exams-ap-ib-level-and-transfer-credit-information

For economics, either exam can count as a lower division H/SS course, up to the limit. But note that Economics 1 at Berkeley covers both microeconomics and macroeconomics.
