I haven’t gotten a LOR request yet. Does your LOR request email say that LORs are optional or mandatory?
@milopenguin The email said that it was optional but recommended, since the recommendations have the potential to add a lot to your application.
submitted around an hour ago! hopefully LOR…
Cal grad and mother of applicant here. My son received the email requesting LOR, too. This is definitely a good sign. If UCB isn’t seriously considering giving you acceptance, they wouldn’t ask for more info from you, right? I I do believe LOR are requested of borderline applicants. Everything on my son’s application is very strong but his ‘ding’ is his mediocre SATs. I believe they need a little more reassurance my son can take the academic rigors of UCB to say “Yes”. Some words of encouragement/comfort to all applicants - UCB does give deferred acceptances to Spring. I was such a case. In the Fall, I took my classes as a UCB Extension student (half classes 2 blocks off campus, other half on campus like everyone else) and then when Spring came, classes all on campus like everyone else. If you don’t make the Fall 2016 cut, you can still make the Spring 2017 cut.
@kornido what were his stats and when did he submit his app?
Guys I have a question.
When I send my ACT to one UC (Ex: Berkeley), will it go to all of them that I applied?
and
If I submit my SAT Subject test to 1 UC (Ex. Berkeley), will it be shared to all the UCs that I applied to?
Appreciate your help!
@Salutation yes.
@Ballerina016 Thank you!
I did send only one ACT, is this considered score choice? (26C vs. 33C)
and
I sent my SAT Subject tests without my actual SAT, is this considered score choice?
I really don’t want my application to have any missing criteria that I can easily do.
Again, Thanks for all your help!
I’ve been trying to submit my application since 12pm and now it’s 7pm and the app keeps denying my card. I’ve spent the past hour crying because this is my dream school i’m talking about and may not get a chance to frigging apply!!!
You have to send all acts/sats
@AdaezeU call the application center ASAP. (800) 207-1710 (within U.S.), (310) 513-2715 (outside U.S.). they should be open today.
@tokiboy thank you, unfortunately I have no access to a phone and my house mother refuses to call an international number. But i’m with the head of boarding and she wants to see if her card works since she has an American bank account
Cheers! @Spicykins
Guysss I couldn’t find the prebusiness major on my applicationnn. I applied intending social sciences. What should I do??? Someone help me please. How does this affect my acceptance.
@confusedsenior28 You’re totally fine. Berkeley has no pre-business major, people who want to go to the business school (Haas) apply in sophomore year. This won’t affect your acceptance at all. I did the same thing in fact, plan on eventually applying to Haas but applying as a polisci major.
I got the email from Berkeley. I’m applying to EECS and I have a 31 ACT (36 Math,35 Science, 30 English, 23 Reading (Which was a fluke)), 800 Math II, 690 Physics (I haven’t taken Physics C) and 3.75 UC GPA. However, I have had leadership roles in several CS related clubs and I have competed and won at various CS competitions and I have developed several Android apps. I also had decent community service and currently doing CS research at a local university.
My stats seem borderline however, my CS involvement probably pushed me beyond that.
Search for Berkeley Hout Report 2005 for a detailed description of Berkeley’s “Augmented Review” procedure as it was practiced then. We can’t know if the LOR procedure is an abbreviated form of Augmented Review, a totally new procedure, or a half step in an evolving policy, but the Hout report explains how “tie breaker” cases were handled back then.
@johnnyisgod OMG thank you so much. I feel much better now. Will I still be able to take some Business courses in Freshmen? Or will I have to wait for Sophomore year to start learning business?
@Salutation you have to send ALL your ACT scores, SAT Subject Test Scores, and SAT scores
@nadinem123 You don’t have to send all SAT2 scores.
