UC Berkeley - Class of 2022 Applicants Thread

Everyone should relax, or stay away from CC if they can’t imo…stress is not healthy. Decisions will be out soon. We no longer have any control over any of it, so let’s just enjoy the ride.

This faux pas by UCB is just another to add to the list of blunders by the UC system’s admission process.

I remember when my sister was applying for schools for the class of 2012. That’s when UCLA had to recall a bunch of admissions they sent out in error and tell those “admitted” that they weren’t accepted after all. Luckily she wasn’t one of them. She ended up choosing to go to UCSB when it was all over and loved every minute of it, and now works for one of them huge fancy CPA firms.

@xafl134 No, Santa Clarita. But “shipping information” was first communicated in late Feb, and then it was delivered to Santa Clarita March 11, and has been sitting there since March 14. I’m sure it’s 100% unrelated the more I think about it.

@KES2022. That sucks for those poor kids. Happy for your sister.

Now I wish I had applied for financial aid. My parents wouldn’t allow it. It’s their fault I didn’t get the blunder notice.

would only in state students receive the mistake FA email since only they are eligible for FA?

@YoungOne4 I live in that area. Where are you seeing the information about a package?

congratulations! May i ask are u in state?

The ones who didn’t get the email may be better off, apparently the UCs are infamous for sending out false admittance letters in error. 2009,2010, 2012. UCSD, UCSB, UCLA. Today’s blunder is different than those 3 circumstances BUT it has happened. This pisses me off we were totally at peace until this damn fiasco today. Now everyone is confused and stressed.

I’ve read their tweets…so are they saying that you CAN get rejected even if you have gotten the email?

I wouldn’t trust anything anyone says until the decisions are officially released…and even then it’s still not a sure thing with the UC’s. Just too many applicants for an underfunded and understaffed college system to handle effectively.

@Twinmomhell I honestly feel like your girls and everyone who got emails this morning should be excited! This blunder definitely seems different then years past. Now just praying for hope for the rest of these guys… including my son :frowning:

Has anyone on here that’s gotten in early or received emails this morning done the Berkeley Summer Experience?? Just curious…

@knowledgeispower18 I went and read all the articles from all the other schools in years past, its worrisome for sure.

@kjake2000 All US applicants can get federal financial aid. Only CA students can get the state aid though (towards a CA school). So it’s not just CA students who filled out FAFSA.

@knowledgeispower18 I was fine until I read that stuff. UGH. The right thing to do would be release their decisions tomorrow, at least the other 3 schools dealt with it immediately, not 5 days later.

So…should I be happy and relieved that I received the admitted email or should I keep it quiet because I could still be rejected?

@Twinmomhell or at least just should’ve told those that got emails they’re in (which is highly likely) but that there will be more on Thursday…if that’s the case

@knowledgeispower18 EXACTLY

@knowledgeispower18 I didn’t attend the Berkeley Summer Experience

@hopelessinOC SAT 1320, UC GPA around 4.35, Lots of strong EC’s, Essays got me the CSF Seymour award so I guess they’re strong. I got the emails today.

Asian male, I’m kinda a big fish in a small pond. Normally those stats would not be enough for top schools but I think local context helps me.

@aidanrockne The weighted g.p.a. is what all the U.C.'s use. It the gpa you get for the “a-g” classes that the U.C.'s look at for your junior and senior year. The unweighted includes the same classes, but doesn’t give any points to ap or honors classes.
