geez. That’s frustrating. It’ll happen, but as they get closer to mid june, they may offer options that aren’t in your daughter’s top 4.
My daughter was in the first round and didn’t get any of her preferred housing or room choices. I’m having a hard time believing that any of that really matters.
It’s fine. I don’t think unit 2 exposes students to more craziness than other housing assignments. My daughter is a rising third year. Her apartment is a short block south of peoples park so she passes it every day. There are people everywhere. Berkeley is urban and dense. You just have to practice normal city warrior skills and be alert.
My d is a rising third year living in an apartment southside with friends. She did the random roommate thing freshman year. Even though she knew quite a few people attending, they decided together it might make them codependent to apply together. She was assigned to a unit 3 tiny triple with two girls who had applied together intentionally as a double—so definitely a third wheel from the start! It wasn’t an easy year; she wasn’t really compatible with her roommates (they rarely left the room, studied with lights on all night while she was a morning person, had tons of people over at all hours and were very messy; room was also mid floor by bathroom and weirdly had no storage furniture; plus if was Covid and there were zero common spaces as kids living in all study rooms!). That said…in retrospective, those minor league struggles were a turning point in her transition from child to adult. She learned to advocate for herself, have uncomfortable conversations, prioritize what was really important, to focus on what can be changed and let go of other stuff, etc. Her roomies were not toxic or abusive, just not a great fit. (Actually would have been okay with the older one from abroad, and they are still friendly.) we live in San Francisco and she was uneasy about coming home too often, but learned how to use home as a resource instead of a crutch (Sunday night sleep catch-ups every few weeks). I can’t emphasize enough how important it turned out to be that we supported but encouraged her to find the good and maintain her own communication. She made many other friends on the floor and in class and clubs and is thriving now. I think she is more resilient and intact having handled her freshman year housing bumps herself.
Still no housing here…

My son has been assigned Residence Hall Unit 1. Does anyone know where to park the car while moving in on Aug 15-16?
On move in day there will be people directing traffic and providing access to loading spots based on move in times. Just follow google maps and you will be fine.
Question on Class registration, starting July 13 do the students get assigned a time and date? my daughter has finished her GBO
Try looking in CalCentral, under My Academics, on the right side under Class Enrollment. I can see the date and time slot there (I am a delegate).
I see it , says 9:40am. Does each student get a different time or is it open to all at that time? What is phase 1 ? is there a phase 2?
Apparently there are different time slots. My son’s time slot starts at 10:20
Incoming freshmen just have phase 1, and then adjustment period. Continuing students have phase 1, phase 2, and adjustment period. I think this is explained in golden bear advising.
thanks for info! i"m sure my daughter knows but doesn’t always share with me !
Does anyone have an issue with calnet account? Mine says that this account has been disabled and I did not do anything. I am super confused why this is happening and I am worried because I have not finished the assignments which are due on Monday
Hi LS admits, does the calCentral “My academics–>Academics Profile” show you as L&S Undeclared UG? Is it same even if you applied for high demand major?
Hi All…I requested transcripts from my high school and one online school (Laurel Springs). The CalCetral account still shows them as not received. Some other online school transcripts are already accepted. Do you folks have similar issue? Are your high school transcripts already accepted? Thank you.
It can take some time for calcentral to update with items received. Someone needs to check it and update it in calcentral. I’m sure they are receiving a large volume of transcripts about now.
yeah…may be we have to wait and see. For me, some are under processing stage too.
