Hello!
I’m a current California senior who recently got into UC Berkeley. My dream has always been to obtain a job in the music industry after graduate while working an internship as I study. From what I’ve always imagined, LA is the place to do it. However since I did not get into USC Thornton(which was the dream) I’m very conflicted on where I should go. I am waiting on NYU and Upenn, and I am also waitlisted at UChicago. I’m also very dependent on financial aid so I’m very hesitant about NYU either way.
My top choice seems to be Berkeley right now, but I can’t seem to find much on anyone who went on to work in music industry from Berkeley. Does anyone know any programs, clubs, or classes from Berkeley that would help me get into music business if I decided to go there? My current major is Media Studies. And if I do go to Berkeley, are there any opportunities in the city or around the city that would help jumpstart me in the right direction?
I’ve never seen myself as a Bay Area girl because I’ve lived in LA and loved it my whole life. My vision right now is studying at Berkeley until I get the chance to transfer to either UCLA or USC for easier access to more open doors in the music industry.
Any advice? I’m very stuck and scared for the future right now, and any reassurance or suggestions would be GREAT.
