So I’ve been accepted to Cal and to UCSB, and I’m really torn between the two of them.
I love that UCSB is on the beach and I love that the people are so friendly. The academics are pretty good, but they’re not as prestigious as Berkeley. But Berkeley also tends to leave their students insanely stressed, which doesn’t sound too great.
Which would be best for social psychology? I understand Berkeley also has a social welfare major, which is a bonus for me, but is that a reason to go?
Has anyone made a similar choice? Also, whats the grade deflation I keep hearing people talk about at Berkeley?
A lot of people say go to Cal because it’s so prestigious, but is that really a good enough reason?
Also, how is the social scene? Is it comparable to other colleges?
Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts/stories about any/all of my questions, thanks!
If I could, I would definitely go to UCB but I could be biased because I’m from the Bay Area and I absolutely love that campus. My major is business so it’s a bit more competitive there so I didn’t apply. A bunch of my friends go to UC Berkeley and love it, I rarely hear bad things about it. I’m actually going to be attending UCSB which I’m excited about but sad to leave the bay. I would definitely say UCB over UCSB
