UC Berkeley Supplemental Freshman Questionnaire

I wonder how all of these supplemental applications play out… 5 more days until the moment of truth!! Nervous birds (it’s not even butterflies…) in my stomach!!

Little late, but me and my friend got a supplement for both UCLA and Cal. I got accepted to UCLA, he didn’t. We’re both awaiting Cal’s decision, and I’m telling ya, I couldn’t be any more nervous. I want to get in here pretty badly. My stats are okay, not great at all, so we’ll see what happens.

I GOT IN! With the augmented review!

^ what is augmented review?

Congratulations Shubzy!!! Great news! My son got in a few years ago after receiving a supplemental Q and loves Cal!

I got in w/o the supplemental and i was borderline :DDD

i completely believed i was rejected once i didnt get the supplemental but i guess this just means not all borderline students get the supplemental

i got in WITH the supplement and i believe it was a strong determining factor for me

Thank you UCLA77 this acceptance means a lot for me and my family! I hope I love Cal as much as your son, was he oos too or did he reside in california?

Denied with Supplement. :/

yeah i got in with the supplement too. i think it was HUGE factor in admissions for me at least. also i’ve taken 14 college classes, so that might’ve helped but im sure i wouldn’t have gotten in without the supplement. im so glad/confused that i got in!

I got in because of the supplement. I know that for a fact.

what were ur stats?

Got in with the talent supplemental, 3.81 GPA, 2020 SAT, a few 5 AP tests, a bunch of extra-curriculars and major leadership roles, competitive club and varsity in three sports, captain, regional/national championship games etc., work 25 hours/week, and strong essays. I’m posting this because I know people next year will be looking at who got in with the supplemental just like we were this year. For people who are filling out the supplemental next year: I wrote essays for each answer for the supplemental even more carefully than I did for the original personal statement because I knew with my GPA/SAT I should have been a flat reject and was so thankful for the opportunity to explain why they should admit me!!! lol Thank you so much to rider730 and Ms Sun for all their great information.

My son is in state.

I do strongly urge those next year who get the supplement to follow nonmilitantvegan’s advice. Take great care in responding to the supplemental and follow it precisely.

Also, congrats berry14, hidinginacorner and supermodeldior, and anyone else who adds to this thread who got in with the supplemental.

Berry, my stats were very similar to yours. I also have a disability which affected my grades freshman and sophomore year. Sent in a doctor’s conformation and a LOR from my science teacher

rejected with the arts supplemental questionnaire.
=/
uc gpa: 4.03
sat: 2130
MAJOR vocal extra curriculars.
It’s all good though. I guess Berkeley just wasn’t meant to be.
=]

Congrats to all those who DID get in! Clearly, your work paid off! =D

I got in with a supplemental app!!!
UC GPA: 3.87
SAT I: 1700
SAT II: 680(Eng) and 790(Span)
I attend one of the worst high schools in Los Angeles
I worked three jobs throughout high school and had massive EC’s
My scores were the third highest scores at my HS
Even the valedictorian got like a 1430 on her SAT’s… sad right?

I just got the questionnaire e-mail today and I am ecstatic! Honestly, I applied to Berkeley on a whim because I got the UC fee waiver and thought, “why not take advantage and apply to 4 UC’s for free!”. My stats are far below Berkeley averages. My ACT is a 28 and GPA is a 3.73 (not the UC GPA, I think my UC GPA is like 3.8 or something). My GPA is on the lower side because sophomore year my grandma became ill and to help my family pay for bills I got two jobs, which made my grades drop. Freshman year I had a 3.83 and Junior year I had a 3.9 so I’m sure they overlooked the sophomore year stumble. My essays were pretty killer though, not going to lie. I got the questionnaire that asks if my school provides adequate resources, did i desire to take more AP classes, do your parents support you, optional teacher rec etc. I think this is the “low income” one. I was just assuming I would be rejected but it’s nice to see that I’m in the middle category.

If you’re valedictorian got a 1430 on their sat’s, they must’ve cheated to be valed.

were all the supplements sent yesterday? I am a borderline applicant… if I didn’t get one, does it mean I did not get in?
