UC Berkeley Supplemental Freshman Questionnaire

i agree. i am going absolutely crazy now that i read this.
OMGoshhhh.

My stats are pretty low, but my extracurricular material stands out with international/national awards. UC weighted gpa is 4.0, 2100 composite SAT with 700 (well rounded), 5 APs, 3 4's 3 5's.

No one can be sure they have the "stats for Harvard". There's just too much stuff that goes on behind the scenes. Even if you have a 4.8/2400, you still are nowhere near assured a spot in their class.

Sure they can. Nowhere did I say they would be "assured" admissions -- just that they have the stats. A 4.0 uw/2200 has the stats -- but needs a lot more for admissions. In any event, such person has an 80% chance of admission at Cal and UCLA.

B'Girl is applying to Harvard. If she thinks she has the stats to be competitive in that pool, admission to Cal is rather easy.

Were all of these e-mails received on the 13th? Are there more being sent out?

^ i'd like to know the same. Is this wave of questionnaires over? Do we know who is in the "gray area"? Or are more emails being sent out later?

They are sent out over a three to four week period between January and February. There will be more that go out.

So I received a questionnaire too, and I submitted it way before my deadline. However, I got an email today saying "This is a reminder that we have not yet received the additional information we requested to help us assess your application for admission. "

Did everybody get that? Or is it just me? It's super weird, and I'm freaking out because I already submitted mine on time.

colababy, i received the same email and i submitted mine before the deadline. i think they are probably sending it out to everyone. the most important thing is your status on the berkeley site.

^^ yeah that is right

there is even a message that says something like "if you see both check marks, disregard the e-mail

did not get email, rejected?
Here are the barebones
Class of 2009
SoCal, Top 30 school
UCGPA: 3.86

SAT Regular: 2230,
1520 M/V
SAT Superscore: 2280

SAT2: 760 lit, 800 IIC math

EC:

LD debate Tourny Champion, outrounds participatns at many others, debate captain

CEO and founder of a non-profit corporation to help teach kids of any economical background how to debate + other cirtical thinking skills

Helps poor kids at a local elementary school academically (300 hrs)

what do we put on the endowments portion of the supplement? (i have the talent one)

It could also mean you got accepted

NQ:

It really depends on your class rank. Yeah, I know that class rank is not an official admissions requirement, but it becomes a de facto one, i.e., Cal can only accept so many kids per high school. Thus, Cal may accept the top 10% from a competitive HS, but the kids in 15-20% must offer something extraordinary to boost them into the accept pile (ahead of kids with better gpa's).

Oh damn, I hope I get this letter since I am more borderline and I am out of state (UC GPA 4.14/ ACT 32). Are these letters still coming or have they all already been sent out?

colababy2, I'm in the same situation as you, I filled out the questionaire, sent it, and received an email saying I didn't send the additional information. My mom called the number in the email yesterday and they said they want us to do the letter of recommendation even though it specifically said on the site that it is optional. Also, I think they want to make sure that you sent whatever other info (proof of your disabilities) that you have to them. I recommend that you call them up (with the number in the email sent to you) to figure out what they want.

ranganz:

You are NOT borderline with those numbers. Of course that does not mean you are an auto-accept either.

Able: definitely send a rec -- heck, send two. Now is not the time to be bashful.

bluebayou, yes after the call yesterday I was definitely ****ed off because they said all over the site that i didn't have to do a letter of rec. I immediately called up one of my teachers and sent the necessary paperwork for a letter of rec.

so... I r screwed?

@NoQuarter

These are for BORDERLINE applicants only. As in the ones who had hardly a chance. As your scores are within the range, you have a chance, so it would be highly unlikely for you to get one of these.
