UC Berkeley Transfer Decisions 2013

Decision: Accepted!!!
Major: Music
College of Letters & Science
GPA: 3.78
IGETC: Complete

Strengths: Have started my own successful career in the music industry. Founded company. Strong personal statements IMO. Positive grade trend.

Weaknesses: I actually attended UCI for one quarter in 2008 after HS and did very poorly academically before dropping out. Went to my local CC for another year and failed almost every class. Never did any real extra circulars. Never was part of any student body organizations, honors societies/clubs, etc.

Also Applied/Accepted to: UCLA, UCSD, UCSC, UCD

Choice? CAL!!! See you there!

Rejected
Major: Business Admin
GPA: 3.9

Recent immigrant so didn’t really participate in any EC activity though I have a ton in overseas high school. Good common essays, but I think my Haas essay was the strongest. Reason for rejection most likely the lack of EC & two B+ grades in Calculus. Or how impacted the major is. Or everything, I don’t know haha. Going to UCI who offered me a good financial aid package.

Sent from my Nexus 4 using CC

REJECTED: I didn’t get an email, but I logged into the portal anyway to see, and it says rejected. Wondering why I didn’t get an email if the decision is already made?

Hello,

Decision: accepted
Major: Business Administration
GPA: 3.95 (one B from a non pre-req class)
Pre-req: all finished except CalII (in progress)
Breath: satisfied
CC: DVC
Applied: UCB
Accepted: UCB
Personal statements: excellent
Supplemental essay: average
Residency: California resident
Volunteer/Community service: PTK, math tutor, leaders of study groups, host 2 book clubs, beach cleaning up…
Job/Working experience: owner of a small business, assistant manager of a multinational corporation in Asia (publicly listed)
Achievements/Awards: international business case competition (ranked 36th out of 450 MBA students), eBay PowerSeller

Some people suggested not to leave blanks on the resume (the one for Haas). However, I left a few blanks on mine because I didn’t feel to stretch minor deals. I see it as a place where I can list detailed information for the things I talked about in my personal statements. I am extremely grateful and honored for the admission offer from Cal!

Decision: Accepted

UC GPA: 3.93 (Major GPA 4.0)
Intended Major: Molecular and Cell Biology – Developmental and Cell Biology!
TAP: No
Major Pre-reqs Completed: Yes (including a year of calculus based physics)
IGETC: Yes

Which other schools did you apply to?
Applied: UCB, UCLA, UCSD
Accepted: All ;)

EC/Volunteering: hospice, chem/bio tutor
Job/Work Experience: paid tutor at my college
Achievements/Awards: nothing lol

Personal Statement: the one about major was pretty bad but the one about myself was good I think but I never got them proofread so idk

Strengths: GPA and completion of pre-req including physics (only recommended for my major)
Weaknesses: not much EC or work experience, 4Ws, an F, and a D on my transcript (all replaced with A’s)

Additional comment: Well I think the completion of all the pre-req was the reason why I got accepted and probably my essay. My essay was simple and i wrote it very honestly about myself and my family. I tried not to sound like I was trying too hard by making up stuff. Also I think the quality of EC matter more than the quantity.
