Woo that scared me for a second haha. Any other soc majors reading this thread applying to cal?

^ I am, but I never heard from Berkeley…not even once!

Ahh I just got an email to apply for their leadership scholarship but I read in another thread that a lot of people got it just from clicking a particular box in their application -_- so I’m pretty much in the same boat as you!

Did all of ya take SATs?

@transfersoph

Yes back in junior year. Cal doesn’t require you to submit them anyways.

Yeah…I haven’t taken SATs since junior year of high school. There wasn’t a place for them on the app, was there?

I just got an email this morning from Cal’s financial aid office asking me to send them a document. Do they review all applicants financial aid and FAFSA? Or do they only check for students who they are admitting? I’m hoping this is a sign lol.

@eacole I dont really remember. I was just asking because I have never taken SATs before and was thinking if it would perhaps affect my application. :/

@kind1662
What document do they want?

Don’t worry kin1662, the dream act already passed. You don’t have to worry about getting deported anymore.

@transfersoph

I wouldn’t worry about it. I think they only asked for SAT scores if you used them to fulfill any requirements

To all who received financial aid emails, I called cal net to let them know I don’ have a student ID number to log into cal net to update my financial aid docs. The gentlemen on the phone told me to wait for a second, then congratulated me on being admitted to Cal and gave me my student ID!! Just saying you guys might want to call this number 510 664 9181. Good luck to the rest of you guys. I AM IN!!

@mrgojes Congrats!! But, I don’t think cal net is going to be happy when they receive 32492304214213 calls in the next hour LOL.

congrats mrgojes. i got the same email and i called 5106649181, a lady told me i have to wait for the decision.

That sounds a little weird how they would want a document. Because your filed FASFA should automatically be transferred over to their financial aid office as long as you marked Berkeley on your FASFA.

The only way I could see someone finiding out if they are in earlier before the 26th is if you were a finalist for the achievements award program scholarship because they obviously would not pick a finalist if they had no chance of getting into Berkeley.

@jman Oddly enough, I read in a previous Achievement Award thread that one finalist did not get accepted.

The Alumni Association, not the school, selects the scholarship recipients. I bet they overwhelmingly get in if they were competitive enough to get to the finals, but you never know, because it is two separate entities making the decisions.

@CQBanana That is crazy, I thought they would somehow join up with admissions because they ask for your application id on the Achievement awards application. Good info though. Financial aid and Admissions are two separate entities as well so idk what that @MrGoges was talking about

Yeah who knows if what I heard is even true. Gotta take everything I hear on CC with a grain of salt…

@transfersoph

I wouldn’t worry about it. I think they only asked for SAT scores if you used them to fulfill any requirements
