Don’t give up! I’m a international student and apply music major in waitlist, my BF already enroll in same major in April 28th. He did orientation yesterday. The music major right now only had 8 students enrolled. Last year, this major had about 18 students.
I hope they release decisions tomorrow! I’m dying to find out.
Did they even released a second wave?
I think that’s a very good point. I only see 14 students (including me) enrolled in my major (Cog. Sci.). For non-selective/impacted majors I’m sure they will release a second wave. Good luck!
It is quite late for all waited-list students. Hope you guys not give up since we have been waiting almost one and a half months… The second wave will come out soon. They propably try maximizing for all the left spots which is a reason why we should be patient for this update. Btw, I am majoring in Applied Math. Are there anyone got accepted from waitlist for the first wave?
14…?? Really?
^^ yeah, only 14 transfer students so far. The advisors even mentioned we’re a small group this year, so maybe we’re still waiting for more students to join us.
Finally one week left only. Not matter the result is, time to move on and enjoy the summer. Don’t lose hope until the rejection letter comes! Good luck!!!
Just being curious, anyone here admitted off the waitlist decided to decline UCB’s offer?
I wish all of you a great summer and just wanted to thank you for the help and for sticking together.
Personally I’ve made the decision to give up on Berkeley… 9 essays, an interview, another essay, and a constant stream of emails to make sure things are up to par, have drained me and left me so sick and tired of this process.
Personally the worst part of this experience has been getting waitlisted, it initially felt like getting rejected once but then I got to watch my girlfriend leave to Berkeley while I sit around sad and confused about my future.
From there nothing gets better the dang school just rejects you another 6 times. So honestly at this point if berkeley wants me then they’ll come to me, otherwise I’ve given up on this charade. They’ve made it very clear that they don’t want a student like me and have honestly made me feel entirely expendable. So I’d much rather spend my time on places that do want me, and that aren’t here to just feed me a pipe dream.
Just make your own story guys, don’t rely on a bunch of people in a room who could give less of a care in the world about you. Just rely on yourself because this whole process is just proof of how expendable you are to this school.
@OdinFox Hey , sorry you feel that way. That is definitely one way to look at it. I like to think they are taking their time to really maximize how many students they can take in off the waitlist. As they said before, everyone on the waitlist is an EXCELLENT CANDIDATE FOR ADMISSIONS! Don’t forget that. Whether or not they end up having space is out of our control. What we all did over the last few years on our lives caught their attention and differentiated us from thousands of other students. Before I got my first internship, I got rejected by the same place over 26 times. Ive also applied for other jobs at the company I work for and been rejected over 120 times. I was also rejected by every UC school I applied to out of high school. Look to these experiences for inspiration. The moment you give up trying is the moment the chance of you accomplishing that thing falls to 0%. I am still hopeful for everyone here. The school you graduate from in college doesn’t define who you are!
That was very kind of you to share your experience and I understand exactly what you mean.
UC Berkeley is doing what’s best for them, and I shouldn’t expect that to be in my best interest at all. At the end of the day that’s why I’ve given up on this school in specific, i feel like I keep setting myself up for disappointment. That’s why id rather focus on the schools and opportunities that are open to me.
Although it is definitely an honor in itself to be included on the waitlist, you made a very good point by saying that. The issue is that I personally regret wasting my time and energy on things that I now feel are just holding me back.
Just checking back in the thread at this very last week.
@OdinFox It doesnt matter if we decide to give up or not. We did what we have done and it is up to them to do what they want to do with us. If the chances are low, we move on our life and just keep climbing up the ladder till we reach somewhere we want.
I have some applications due at end of this month and I already started working on them last week. Move on but not giving up and move on lol
my friend just called the admission office. they said they would release the decisions on next thursday, july 4th lol
I talked to admission this morning at 9:30 am and they told me it would be BEFORE July 1st…
Also see link: http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/how-to-apply/after-you-apply/admission-decisions/
It says at the bottom that all students will be notified of their status by July 1st!
Funny enough on that link it doesn’t say that Berkeley has a waitlist lol
OMEGALUL
Isn’t july 4th a holiday
@LoganKilpatrick that’s funny. They must have forgotten to update the text. Berkeley never implemented a waitlist system until last year I think.
