UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, Notre Dame, UNC?

Hi everyone,

I am an aspiring doctor (hopefully!) who would like to head into anesthesiology (again, hopefully!) I am on the edge of deciding that the undergraduate college should be “less” important than the graduate school, for lack of a better term.

  1. If you could give me your two cents on that, that would be swell.

I am a rising junior in Arizona.

  1. If you would take the time to read the following of my past years in high school and chance me for:

Arizona State University, Barrett the Honors College
UC Berkeley
University of Arizona Honors College
UCLA
UC San Diego
UC Davis
Notre Dame
University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill

4.0 Unweighted GPA
4.74-4.83 Weighted GPA (depending on if I have marching band that semester)
Top 5% of graduating class of about 300-350
Ranked #7 or #8 out of about 300-350
Currently working on getting my SAT score up to 2000–640CR, 700W, 660M

National Honor Society (Year 1)
Tri-M Music Honor Society–Treasurer (Year 1)
Spoken Word Poetry Club–Founder and Captain/President (Year 1)
Speech and Debate–Co-Captain and Semi-Finalist at State Tournament in Prose Interpretation (Year 3 of participation)
Veterans Heritage Project (I love this organization with all of my heart. We interview veterans, write their story, send the story and interview to the Library of Congress in DC, publish the stories in a collective book.)–Editor-in-Chief and published author/interviewer (Year 5 of participation, about 100+ hours of Community Service)
Yarn Club–Instructor (Year 2 of participation)
Key Club (Year 2)
District Honor Band Participant
HS Concert Band Member (Year 3)
Marching Band–Drum Major (Year 3–I got to do it my sophomore year and this upcoming year although it has always been strictly limited to seniors)

Korean, born in US, raised in Korea. Bilingual, almost trilingual (English, Korean, basic Spanish.)

Taking every honors class available, every AP class (this year I will be taking AP US History, AP Physics, AP English Lit. and Comp.), getting A’s for a 4.0 unweighted GPA.

AP European History–3 (strange how UCB takes this score but ASU does not)

I look forward to hearing what you think! Thank you so much for taking the time to read

You are on the right track but until you have an SAT score, it is impossible to chance you. Keep the good work.
Just an FYI: California UC’s offer little to no financial aid for OOS applicants, so expect to pay $55K/year to attend UCSD/UCLA/UCD or UCB.

A 2000 on the SAT would make every school a reach except the ones in Arizona and UC Davis.
