So I'm a 1-year transfer to UC Berkeley, so I still get Financial Aid/Cal Grant for another 3 years, and I really want to graduate with my class. So Berkeley states that I can continue enrolling until I reach 130 units.

So I'm transferring 61 units with me, and if I take 12 units per semester, I will be able to stay for 3 years, or I'm assuming this is how it works.

Can anyone offer me insight or advice? Any stories of people staying at UCB after transferring for more than 2 years?

are part of those 61 units from AP credit? If so they don’t count towards the unit cap.

I’m fairly certain you have to take a minimum of 13 units per semester over at Cal. Besides that, I believe your assumption is correct: As long as you stay below the unit ceiling, you can keep enrolling for however long you would like. 61 + (13x5) = 126

Looks like you MAY be able to pull it off (the issue is that it might not be so easy to keep your workload at exactly 13 every semester). Just make sure you stay below 130 by the end of the 5th semester. If you hit that number, you wont be able to enroll for the 6th

@Freetofly112: Thanks for the awesome reply! You’re right, the minimum is 13 units. I just need 13 units per semester, and I can even do 3-4 semesters with 14 units. It will take some organizing and planning with my schedule, but I think I can make it work.

The 13 units minimum is only if your major is in the L&S college. Other colleges require only 12 units/semester.
