I got accepted to both but I'm not sure which to go to. I live in California so obviously UCB would be much cheaper however my parents are fine with paying for either. I'm pretty sure I want to major in physics but Im not completely sure yet. Ive visited seattle many times before and I absolutely love it but i have also visited berkeley before and ive liked it there too. ive wanted to go to uw since the beginning of this year but when i found out i was accepted to berkeley i got hesitant. I want to enjoy college and not be studying 24/7. Im worried about how competitive ucb is. advice??

from what i’ve heard, ucb is almost, of not as competitive as an ivy league school is. i’m guessing you would be better off at uw.

UCB will most likely keep your eyes stuck on the books more than UW but it is a very good school and it will really benefit you in your post-college life…not saying UW won’t. However, from what I’ve heard from my sister who’s a UW alumni, the social life is very fun. :D

As much as I love UW, I think a UCB degree will benefit you much more in the long run. It is much more know, and it has been ranked #1 in the public school system multiple time. Then again, it also depends on your major somewhat.

UCB. Not even a question.

UCB, not only is it cheaper because you are instate, but it is also very very competitive (just a notch under ivy tier)

UCB. You may enjoy the college experience at UW more, but the payoff of the better degree for ~$43K less @ UCB seems too attractive to turn down.

I agree that you should not turn down IS tuition at Berkeley for OOS tuition at UW.
