I am a high school Senior and have been accepted into the Computer Science programs at both schools. I am from Illinois, so Berkeley is more expensive. I love entrepreneurship + startups and would like to know how much of a disadvantage I will have in recruitment/job opportunities and startup culture if I were to attend UIUC. Would it be difficult to land a job /internship in California during/after college?

Come to Cal if you can afford it…Berkeley needs the extra revenue. ;)

Nah, you’ll just have to do more leg work. Your Illinois degree will be greatly respected by employers.

I wouldn’t spend the extra money on Berkeley, unless if you really come from a wealth family. It’s not worth $20+K/year extra, I don’t think.

Entrepreneurship at Cal has been enhanced in the last 2-3 years, so it’s now more dynamic than ever. Students at the college of engineering, for example, do collaborative works with students from other colleges to manufacture and market certain types of inventions. Though I think much of this kind of activities are more dynamic at the grad level. But I know this type of activities also exist at the undergrad level. Here’s an example: [FT.com / Business education - Students test clean energy by degrees](<a href=“Students test clean energy by degrees”>Students test clean energy by degrees)

Another poster once said it is exceedingly difficult for us to judge different schools (of different calibers… The better one more expensive) when the delta in money is significant.

I personally would go with Cal for many reasons, but the 20k a year is something to consider long and hard.

wait for the FA offers. UIUC is not known for good aid.

I would go with the cheaper option.
