UC campus-question about electrical engineering and Renewable Energy

I am planning to transfer to some UC schools as electrical engineering major. I've been told that electrical engineering is the right major if I want to do planning or designing for the renewable energy devices, but I could be wrong. However, another question comes to me: which school provides more research opportunities or resources for this future career. I've searched online and found that UC Davis, UC Berkeley, and UC San Diego all have good program for Green Energy. However, before researching, my top on the list was UCLA (distance is part of the consideration). Therefore, now I start to reconsider my decision and would like to listen to your suggestion. If I want to do some renewable energy such as Solar Energy, which campus will meet my expectation the most?

Also, my friend told me that UCSD does have great engineering program, however, some people also told me that it's severely hard for transfer student to graduate from there(with engineering major especially ).
Therefore, can somebody give me some suggestions about choosing the campus?
Thank you ahead

Check the web sites of the departments* at each school for research and courses offered in your subarea of interest. Check each school for participation in relevant engineering contests like the solar car one.

As far as graduating on schedule as a transfer student goes, check on [Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org) to see how many prerequisites you will be short on after transfer, based on how the courses at your nearby community colleges match up with the lower division requirements.
