I’m a transfer student.

Ok, I want to know, how is the Computer Science program at UC Davis? I live in the bay area, where I’m hoping to get a job after graduating.

I also got into UCSD a few days ago off of the waitlist, and UCSD is higher ranked in CS. However, UCD is offering me $6000 more dollars than UCSD. So, I’m very stressed deciding where to go. I like UC Davis overall regardless of ranking a bit more than UCSD, so what should I do?

You should look into both campuses, location, and where you would be happy/see yourself at. Getting $6000 to go somewhere you’ll feel miserable is not such a great decision. And rankings aren’t as important as the ranking websites/magazines want you to think. It’s what you make of your education. You’ll be learning the same thing and so long as you seek and take opportunities, a school rank is nothing more than just a number to entertain society’s need to compare (not to mention they are very subjective).

To directly answer your question: In my opinion, a CS degree is kind of like an engineering degree, such that you just need a degree and you’re pretty much set without too much regard to which school you get it from(assuming you’re not comparing schools with a dramatic difference in the level of prestige, which in your case there isn’t that dramatic difference).
