UC Davis Economics major?

Is it difficult? I heard there is a lot of math involved? I am looking around at the business/economics majors and was wondering if I could get some input on how the major is! Thank you!
(btw, I'm going to be a senior in highschool in fall of 2011)

Might wanna post this on the UC Davis forum. You’d get more responses.

Many schools offer a ba or a bs. Chances are you’ll still have to take calculus under both programs, but with the ba it might be a watered down version called “business calc” or “applied calc.” At least that’s how it is at my school. You might also be required to take a stats class, especially if you’re doing the bs. Any more math is usually not required, but up to you.

Hard is subjective, so I’m not sure how to really answer that for you. Go look at the requirements at UC-Davis so you get an idea of what you have to take and whether or not you see yourself liking those classes and being able to do well.

Thank you, ravensfan!

Here’s the list of requirements at UCD for a B.A. in Econ:
[UC Davis General Catalog | Economics | The Program](http://registrar.ucdavis.edu/ucdwebcatalog/programs/ECN/ECNreqt.html)

and a B.S. in managerial economics:
[UC Davis General Catalog | Managerial Economics Requirements](http://registrar.ucdavis.edu/UCDWebCatalog/programs/mecon/meconreqt.html)

It isn’t too math intensive-statistics and two to three quarters of calculus, but how difficult you’ll find it depends on you. Watch out for the UCD’s econ department’s bell curve, though; it means you’ll probably pass, but you may wind up with a lower GPA than you’d expect based on your raw test scores.
