UC Davis Engineering transfer req

A little background..I am a Mechanical Engineering major currently in my last semester at a CC. I applied to several UC's and CSU's for the 2014 Fall semester with just around a 3.0 GPA. I recently received acceptance letters from SJSU and SFSU which I'm very happy about. However, I'd rather go to a UC and I am expected to hear from them by the end of April.

On to my question... UC Davis is the only UC that requires Mechanical Engineering transfers to have completed both Chem 2A and Chem 2B, the rest only require Chem 2A. I have completed 2A and I figured I will take Chem 2B just for Davis because I feel that I have the best chance of getting into UC Davis out of all the UCs, and I'd like to go there. But now, 1/3 the way through the semester, I am really struggling with Chem 2B. It takes up so much time and Chemistry is really not my thing. Also I am the only student studying engineering in that class, unlike all of my other major-related classes, so I feel as if I'm in the wrong place and that Chemistry is totally unrelated to my major. I want to withdraw from the class but I am afraid that will hurt my already low chance of getting accepted into UC Davis. Will not meeting the chem requirement be a "deal breaker" for UC Davis? I though it would be, after all it is called an admission REQUIREMENT but I've also heard otherwise; that one can take a required course once admitted to the university if he/she have not already taken it prior to admission. Does anyone know of an engineering transfer that was accepted to UC Davis without taking Chem 2B? Is it best to withdraw or finish off the class ( probably with a C grade at best) ?

I'm very confused and don't know who to ask for help on this issue. Any input is appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

I have emailed my inquiry UC Davis admissions department. I am currently waiting their reply. In the meantime, any thoughts/suggestions are welcome!

Hey were you able to get in without completing chem 2b? I’m in same situation, mech eng transferring in 2015, but not going to be able to complete chem 2b this spring, hoping they’ll let me in anyway.
