UC Davis Fall 2013 Transfer Thread

Those looking to transfer to davis in 2013, let's get together and make it happen! TAGS for Fall 2013 start September 1st!
UC Davis : Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG)

Is it weird that I filled mine out over a month ago??
Haha extremely anxious I suppose.
I can’t wait!! Good luck to all!!

Not at all, the earlier the better! What are you majoring in?

Chemistry! How about you?

oh nice! well my situation is kind of unique. I went to UCLA for biology, took two years off to become a firefighter. Just graduated from my basic fire academy and looking to get into the fire service. Lost interest in biology so I’m planning on transferring for sociology now

Can you turn in the TAG applications already?

I believe it says beginning September 1st and no later than September 30th to turn in TAG applications for Davis. And then we should find out it’s been accepted by November 15th. I know you can start filling out the information on the TAG application online right now, but as for turning it in, I think we have to wait till 9/1. If anyone can clarify on this, I’m not 100% certain, don’t want to give out false information

Yes I can clarify! You are correct!
And wow UCLA and fire academy now Davis! Good for you! That’s impressive!
Is sociology an impacted major? I was originally planning to make in genetics but that lies under the biological sciences which is severely impacted so since chemistry interests me just as much I decided to go the safe route.

Major* not make

Thought I would bump this since submissions begin in 2 days

Cual es tu major y que es tu puntaje de grados?

Just submitted my Tag for sociology :)!!! I finished my TAG back in July and it felt beautiful to click submit. What an amazing story! UCLA biology fire department to UCD your personal statement is probably lights out kbx827. Im still “writing” mine but need to pick it up faster before school gets too crazy. Is anyone else double majoring and if anything else what are your concentrations? Im a political science/sociology major with concentrations in comparative politics or international relations and social services.

Also why did you guys want to TAG UCD??? Personally UCD is a beautiful school and has exactly what Im looking for major wise… all I have to do is keep my grades up for Fall and somehow pass this Stats class in Spring…

Best of luck!

I have to meet with my counselor sep 13 before submitting mine but I’m trying to get into managerial economics. I’m missing one calc course so I’ll end up in pre-managerial economics if I get accepted. I tagged UCD because it was the closest UC to me. I’m also applying UCSC, UCR, and UCSB normally just in case. Good luck all!

Been busy my friends! I’ve tagged with UCD, and applied to Berkley as well. I’m currently debating on whether or not i should wait till next year and apply to nursing school for BSN, currently looking at USF as they have an amazing program there. Guess we’ll wait and see how UCD goes haha. My personal statement is far from perfect haha, i didn’t have the best grades in high school but i worked my butt off to get to where i am today. I’m still trying to get a 4.0 gpa but i’m working/going to school full time. Working as an EMT, working about 36-60 hours a week depending on if i get held over, taking 12+ units every semester. I’m just really hoping my personal statement will get me through the process because if we base it on pure GPA, probably won’t have the highest chances of getting in. What have you all been up to?

I got into UC Davis thanks to the TAG!! I’ll go there if I get rejected from CAL. Davis is a solid back up.

Hi Guys, So I applied as a Philosophy major to UCD, and am overwhelmed by the number of classes that I am taking this semester, I am hoping to drop my Philosophy 300 (Intro to world religions) class because I am taking it as an elective, and as of right now can’t handle the course work (19 units is proving to be too much)

do you think that it will have a negative impact on whether or not I get in?

Thanks.

It depends if its a major requirement. However no matter how you look at it, dropping a class will usually have a negative impact (if not, very small chance of it being neutral). Especially since you’re dropping a class that’s under your major.

Your best chance is to wait till the 19th (thats the rumored announcement date) then call them to ask if your admissions (if accepted) will be rescinded if you drop that particular class

I failed a class last quarter (Winter). I applied as a Physics major to Davis and I notified them that I was retaking the failed class this quarter (Spring) and they told me that I wouldn’t get rescinded as long as I passed the course this quarter. Basically, Davis is very lenient when it comes to unimpacted majors. I’m sure they’ll let you drop the class as long as you notify them BEFORE dropping it. FYI, I also dropped a Math class last quarter and another Math class this quarter (both were prereqs for my major) and the Admissions office gave me the go-ahead.

Make sure that you’re still over the 90 unit minimum though… If dropping the class puts you under 90 units, you WILL be rescinded, there’s no doubt about that. So yeah, just call them, tell them and then drop that class (assuming you’re still above or at 90 units). Hope this helps!

I dropped a class during the Fall semester last year, after I had applied to UCD and after doing my TAG to UCD. I asked my counselor, and since it was just an elective, there was no problem.

When time came to update my classes on my app, I let them know I dropped it. I agree with the two posts above me, if its just an elective, and you’ll still have over 90 units after dropping it, just contact your counselor at whatever school you are, as well as UC Davis, and they should give you the go ahead.

Thank you all, unfortunately the last day to drop is the 25th, so I am really nervous about waiting too long to hear from Davis. I might try to talk to my professor about how I can fix the situation.

Thanks again!
