what if your tag was approved but your application is denied?
You’re still in.
@velairi I don’t think that would happen.
So I’m a sophomore transfer… D: and I feel like I just wasted 70 bucks. By the end of spring I will have 55 units though and I was advised to apply anyways… I still feel so dumb.
Major: Global Disease Biology
TAG: No
IGETC: One more to go…
Prereq: Still need bio sequence
GPA: 3.8
EC: volunteer work, treasurer…(my EC’s are not what I emphasize though)
Realtor assistant (transaction coordination etc)
I’m not a transfer but I’m applying as a cogSci major as well…can you tell me what your GPA, SAT/ACT scores were, as well as EC’s etc?? Thank you

So are any of you guys who got your TAG accepted for UCD, are you going to go with UCD or are you holding out for other schools?
@boxandwhiskers i’m holding out for other schools. trying to go for berkeley… if i don’t get in to berkeley, then i’d go with davis. You?
@avc118 I was going to hold out for Berkeley or UCLA, but I’m like 90% sure I won’t get in. I do really love Davis and I think i’m just going to go with UCD but i’m also afraid that my TAG is going to be cancelled because i’m paranoid about the classes I put on my TAG being slightly different from the ones on the UC Application that I already submitted.
B&W you haven’t contacted UCD yet to let them know? I was gonna ask you earlier if you contacted A&R because I want to let them know next week.
@napapapa I’m going to call them on Monday. I’ve been emailing my UCD TAG counselor and I explained to her my worries and she said:
"If there are any changes to your planned schedule, please update UC Davis through the UC application. You can also provide an explanation of the changes in the comments section.
Your TAG contract contains the provisions needed to maintain your TAG. As long as you will still meet the conditions of your TAG contract you TAG will not be affected."
And I did. I put my correct class schedule for Spring on my UC application. My issue is that I already stupidly submitted my UC application because I wasn’t sure when TAG decisions were being released and just sent the application out. I should have waited. But I can’t put a note in my app since it’s already been sent out to all of the schools I selected.
When I submitted my TAG back in September, I thought I was going to finish my Spring semester completely at CCSF so I entered the classes I planned on taking in the Spring to all be at CCSF. Bio, Stats for Behavior Sciences, Philosophy, Sociology, and Western Art History.
On my UC app I put the correct classes i’ll be taking through Peralta schools, and the classes are pretty similar except an Intro to Art class instead of Western Art, Physical Anthro instead of Physical Bio, same Philosophy class and Sociology class, and swapped out Stats for another Soc class. These classes are just to finish IGETC and to fulfill the requirements for my AA-T degree. The only UC Davis major related class is the Philosophy class, and they are equivalent to each other.
My worries is that I’m not sure if the classes I put on my TAP account for TAG are apart of the TAG contract that i’m not suppose to violate. BUT I think what she means by “the provisions needed to maintain TAG” are just the GPA requirement, and to finish the 60 units by the end of Spring.
Although when I received my TAG decision it says my name and “Berkeley City College” not CCSF so i’m wondering if they already saw my application and know that my classes are switched for Spring semester. Either way, i’m going to have to call but i’m so paranoid and anxious, I desperately don’t want to lose my TAG since I fully plan on sending my SIR to UCD.
@boxandwhiskers I see what you’re saying, I agree with your thinking on the notion of that they mainly mean GPA provision. Also considering your counselor said you should update Davis through your UC App, that still leaves room for you to properly note things when our update comes in January. When you look at your TAG contract under this section:
“All courses in progress/planned, in addition to the required courses noted below, must be completed with grades of “C” or higher, unless otherwise specified, by the end of your spring 2016 term. To achieve the minimum overall UC-transferable grade point average required, you may need to achieve higher than “C” grades.”
Do you see any (other) courses listed under the English/Math course completions? If not, I wouldn’t worry too much; because imo those would be the classes apart of your TAG that you aren’t supposed to violate. And even if you do have classes there, if you’re taking their equivalents at BCC I see no reason for them to rescind your admission for it. At this point with you contacting UCD and also noting your proper Spring classes once our January update comes, you should be golden. I’m sure they’ll understand the situation. I’m assuming you’ve never taken classes at BCC? If so then them listing that on your acceptance contract and not CCSF is another good sign. Btw I was at BCC the other day to clear some prereqs for next semester, I love their setup and how close it is to UCB.
@napapapa No, I finished all my math and english requirements. All i’m completing next semester are classes to finish up IGETC and my AA-T degree. The only class that’s major related for UCD that i’m taking next semester is the Philosophy class, which is the same on my TAP and my application. So I also figured they won’t care about the classes i’m completing for my AA and for IGETC. Either way, the TAG counselor doesn’t seem that concerned and I don’t think I should be either, so you’re probably right.
I actually have taken most of my classes at BCC and Laney. I thought I would have had to finish everything at CCSF next semester because I was having issues with my apartment. I live right down the street from CCSF campus and the commute to Berkeley City College is kind of brutal sometimes but i’ve been commuting there for the past 3 years now. I like their set up too and the lady at the transfer center is SUPER helpful and nice if you have any questions. She didn’t seem too worried for me either and told me to just call UC Davis on Monday. (I kind of want to drive up to Davis and talk to someone in person about it and just bask in the glow of the campus. I love it there so much, but that’s kind of a long drive just to inform them about my schedule change ha)
Thanks for your insight! What classes are you taking next semester?
So as I said earlier in this thread, I did a TAG for Davis but knew I wouldnt get appoved due to my GPA. Now Im wondering if I should just do a regular admission for a major that would be easier to get into, Im open to any major honestly. Plus then I could also do an alternate major, yes? Does anyone have any insight what major might be “easier” to get into? I feel bad asking this but everyone has there circumstances and I have definitely have mine. So either I could wait to see if Im able to get a 3.2 by this semester and update my TAG or I could just try for a major that may be easier to get into.
@boxandwhiskers Yup, just take it easy man and finish strong. Ah okay I see your school situation now; yeah I was at UCD a week ago and just falling in love with the campus again, everyone there is so nice. No problem bro, at BCC I’ll be taking Data Structures & Algoritms/Linear Algebra, Calc3 at Laney. Wish I could’ve completed all CompSci courses within the Peralta system before transferring but they aren’t offering the assembly class I need… oh well.
@napapapa Yeah Peralta is kind of skimpy on the Philosophy and other classes for some of the majors.
@megantwin You might want to look at UCLA’s profile of admitted transfer students by major https://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/Tr_Prof14_mjr.htm
This shows you what average GPA’s were accepted for each major. Davis probably has similar numbers.
@boxandwhiskers thanks!
also as a transfer student you have to have a declared major correct?
@boxandwhiskers You never know though. You might be able to get to Berkeley and LA. I am 100% sure your TAG will be fine since you only need to finish all the requirements you need for your major in UCD and their English and Math requirements, and of course, their GPA requirement.
@megantwin yes. You would need to declare a major
