I'll be an incoming freshmen this year majoring in biomedical engineer. I was top ten of my classes all throughout high school. I believe I'm prepared to go straight into a 4-year but my parents on the other hand want me to stay here in a community college for at least 2 years. That's what my older sister did and she's now transferring to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo as a junior. She is not receiving as much financial aid as I am, therefore my parents prefer to help her out more and won't support my decision to go to a 4-year. Are my parents right? is it better if I stay for 2 years and then transfer the way my sister did?

People usually go to community college for 2 reasons: 1. They got bad grades in HS or 2. Financial issues. If you have the money to pay for college, go to UC Davis. Are you getting financial aid?

I think gradually as you go up the ladder your aid becomes less. Going to a JC is wayyyy cheaper than taking GE/Prereq classes at a UC. But it does have its pos/negs. & if you decided to go to a JC you could also TAG with UCD or any other UCs if you eventually decide that you wouldnt want to go to UCD anymore.
