I realize that every college will have parties with drinking and all, but how much of it is there @ Davis? And does the party scene vary for each residential hall? My first choice was Tercero since Segundo is pretty much under renovation. What’s it like there?

I’m not into the partying or the drinking, and I really don’t want an atmosphere of either. In other words, I don’t want to be surrounded by temptation.

And when getting to know people @ Davis, can you generally tell if someone is going to be a bad influence?

What are some tips for freshmen to make friends with whom they are more comfortable around? Clubs? Organizations?

You might want to look into the substance free community housing theme. I don’t know anything about it from experience but it sounds like it would be up your alley.

There are lots of people who are not into the partying scene (like me!). I don’t think you will have trouble fitting in if you are not fazed by peer pressure. =]

Davis has a huge and diverse student body. Trust me, you won’t have a problem finding other people in your same situation (regardless of where you live). Yeah, there are a lot of parties and people who seek them out. But there are probably just as many people who avoid partying.

i’ve seriously gone to like, 2 house parties.

and it’s even easier to stay sober… just tell everyone you’re the DD! (and then everyone loves you, because no one wants to be DD. : P haha.)

you don’t have to party to fit in. : ) sure, it’s part of the “stereotypical college experience”, but you don’t have to here at davis to find friends. plenty of people don’t party… especially if you’re in the sciences.
