UC Davis Transfer 2014 Waitlist

@dshrimp @Kazgruk What were your majors, and GPA’s. Also, were your waitlist statements thoughtful?

Rejected from waitlist:

Econ Major
3.2 GPA
Tag: no
IGETC: yes
Major prep: everything completed but calc 2 which I noted I would be taking Summer 2014 and completing prior to Fall 2014.

Is it worth appealing?

@CollegeDropout1‌ I applied as biotechnology major with a 3.1 gpa. I think I had a decent waitlist statement. I am wondering if they accepted anyone :(

Anyone going to appeal?

@dshrimp You should exhaust every option you have? I would appeal, maybe your spring semester grades will change their decision.

@CollegeDropout1‌ Yes I am :(. Btw what is the most important thing they will consider when looking your appeal package? Is that very helpful if I can get letter of recommendation from my ochem and bio professor, as long as my working supervisor?

@dshrimp I’m going to appeal… I’m writing it right now and I will send it after maybe calling them and seeing if they will tell me why they didnt take me off the waitlist

rejected from waitlist, this is really upsetting :frowning:
major is biochemistry

Rejected from waitlist

Major: Psychology
GPA: 3.795
Tag: No
IGETC: No
Pre-Reqs: Completed

I am debating whether or not to appeal. I heard they only accepted 5 freshman off the waitlist. It really depends how many spots are open in your major.

According to ms sun: Error;

I wonder if there is a similar situation with transfer students, did ANY transfer get accepted off the waitlist this year?

UC Davis Fall 2014 Transfer Admission

Applicants: 14,425 (4.7% increase)

Admits: 8,330

Admit Rate: 57.7%

Enrollment target: 3155

Source: Error;

29.4% of admits had TAGs

What do these numbers tell us?

2,449 admits had a TAG (this is 77.6% of UCD enrollment target assuming all TAGs SIR) [0.294 x 8330 = 2449.02]

That means only 12% of the remaining admits (not including TAGs) must SIR in order for UCD to reach it’s enrollment target. [(3155 - 2449 = 706 / 5881 = 8330 - 2449) = 0.120]

Additionally, some appeals from the applicants rejected ( usually a couple hundred) will have been offered admission.

If all the spaces in your major are filled by TAG admits then chances of getting in are…

I think it’s safe to assume very few transfer applicants’ from were admitted from the waitlist.

anyone call uc davis admissions yet and ask why they weren’t accepted from the waitlist? @hopefulcynic‌ @dshrimp‌ @ juls08 @ragnarok635

I did, they said there was an extremely strong SIR response and as a result were not able to accept any students off the waitlist, because there was no room.

:(

Does anyone know how many transfer applicants were on the waitlist? I heard that there weren’t that many.

Don’t even bother appealing. I am pretty sure they already went over the enrollment target. They are going to reject all the appeals because they already have so many students. Better luck next year.

By the way if you are planning on applying again next fall be sure you don’t exceed the maximum transfer units especially upper division classes. Each UC has their own maximum credits criteria. Some have unlimited lower division credits that they top off at 70 credits.

Has anyone received the appeal decision ?

They said after July 1st

@psyc7955‌ I’ve contacted with admission office, they said the decision will be released by next week. Btw did they call you for your Spring quarter grade?

Yes the appeal asked to have the spring grades updated. GPA is not my issue. The person responsible for the appeals was gone last week also they said after July 1st the decisions would be posted. The sooner the better anyway.
