UC Davis Transfer Help :s

I currently attend a California community college were I am maintaining well above the 2.8 that I need to tag with UC Davis. Before I came to my ccc I attended two different schools and got pretty bad grades at both of them. The first school I attended was out of state and I just wasn't mature enough to handle the course load. When I was at the second school my best friend died the first semester and I couldn't afford housing the second semester so, I was homeless, working trying to go to class while being completely and insanely depressed. Needless to say I did very poorly. Plus, the second school was an art school and none of the courses there are UC transferrable. Also, I owe them like two grand and they won't give me my transcript until I give them it.

Notes:

I'm currently retaking all the classes I did poorly on in my first school.

I'm going to try to see if I can give them an unofficial transcript from my second school.

Questions:

With the tag, does UC Davis only consider my GPA from my California Community College?

Do they combine grades from previous colleges?

Should I try to apply regular admission?

Does my gpa start all over again?

Should I just give up and go to like Sac State?

I’m sure this is probably answered somewhere but any help would be awesome

I talked to a counselor once about this because I went to another school before my cc. All Transferable classes will be combined in your gpa to Davis. Your gpa does not start all over again.

I currently have a 3.8 transferable GPA at my CCC but if you include the grades from my other college it brings it down to a 2.5. This means I can’t transfer.

I transferred to UC Davis with a TAG last year, so I hope this will help you a bit.
I asked the TAG coordinator from UCD questions that were similar of yours, but you should contact UCD’s TAG manager directly for an absolute answer by phone at (530) 754-7649 or by email at cabevc@ucdavis.edu

With the tag, does UC Davis only consider my GPA from my California Community College?

No, every transferable class from all college/university that you have attended will be accounted for to calculate your transferable GPA.

**Do they combine grades from previous colleges? **

Yes, all courses must be listed on the application and transcripts from any colleges and or universities that you have attended must be submitted to the registrar. People tried to hide their past records by not submitting a transcript or two and their admissions were rescinded after UCD found out their full academic history.

Should I try to apply regular admission?

UCD doesn’t not accept Winter TAG transfers anymore due to the budget crisis. You will need to apply in November and have your TAG form submitted by the end of September. You will be notified about your TAG decision on the first week of November. Keep in mind that even if you do not qualify for a TAG, your application will still be considered in the regular applicant pool.

Does my gpa start all over again?

Yes and No:
Yes - if you are accepted to UCD, you will have a UC GPA which starts from 0.00 and it will only calculated based on your UC coursework.
No - If you are accepted to UCD, and if you check your transcript/final grades on SISWEB, you will see a column that states four different GPA: UCD Cumulative, UC Cumulative, Transfer, and Overall.

**Should I just give up and go to like Sac State? **

I think you should apply to as many school as you can and not to limit yourself to one school alone, because for TAG agreement there are strict requirements that you must maintain or else the TAG may be voided.

Good luck.

I’m just going to apply and if I get it that will be awesome. If not I’ll probably cry for a long time and then apply again next year.
