Hey all! I am stuck deciding between UC Davis or Cal State Northridge (as a CC transfer student) for Communications. I realize that UCs are geared for research whereas Cal States are more “hands on” and application based. Does anyone have an opinion as to which school has a better Comm program? The main reason I’m considering Northridge is because I’m currently living in Los Angeles, and let’s face it…moving 7 hours away requires some serious thought. I want to get the best education possible, and I’m not 100% sure if I want to go to grad school, but it’s something I’m considering. What do you guys think, or which would you choose?
I was an undergrad at Davis and a grad student at Northridge and I would choose Davis without hesitation.
@Emsmom1 Thanks for sharing! Why is that?
Because Davis is a real college campus and the town is a real college town. CSUN is at least partially a commuter college and has nowhere near the resources that Davis has. Not to mention rankings for future possible graduate study…
You should visit Davis
Davis is wonderful. You’ll have far and away more name recognition and a much more engaging community of fellow students at UCD. Rent is likely a lot cheaper in Davis than in LA as well.
If you have specific questions about the campus, weather, vibe, etc at Davis- let me know. I’ll be happy to answer them.
You should certainly visit Davis before deciding
Davis is great college town and has a nice, very residential campus. In addition, you’ll have access to more resources.
